Title: An environmentally sensitive alternative to your current seach engine.
Post by: Oren on March 01, 2012, 06:20:35 PM
Security concerns raised about recent developments with my default web-search engine prompted me to look around a bit. The alternative I'm working with now:  http://www.gigablast.com/
Anyone care to offer an opinion?

Never heard of this before but it looks interesting.

I installed TOR  a while ago - not for searching anything secret at all, but simply so that from time-to-time I could throw a curve ball at Google and various spooks (you become untrackable unless they are really interested in you). Unfortunately this can be quite slow, but most of the time that doesn't matter to me. The upside is that 'normal' traffic like this helps provide a smokescreen for those who really need the service and who's lives would be in danger if they were discovered.
