Title: Calypso
Post by: kara on August 01, 2010, 10:17:58 AM
Every year I have a little holiday project that I take with me.
In general I just have a minimum of material with me, this year it was just a little netbook, with only Buzz software and audacity.
The project was to experiment with FM synthesises. Although I'm pretty good with traditional subtractive synth theory, I find it pretty hard to program a predictable result with an FM synth. It's hard to predict how a modulator will change the sound of an operator.
Well, I had fun making this song, but didn't advance a lot on FM synthesis.

Well ... Mr Kara  8)

this is not usually my sort of thing, but it did have me picking up the guitar and just 'running with it'  :o

If I can find some time I would LOVE to make some additions, here, with your permission  :-*

Kara,

I like the Jan Hammer vibe you have going here, but the drum track is very coarse & rigid,so it's not very fluent. It's rhythm is reminiscent of a marching band type of sound.
I find it disruptive,as it clashes with the rest of the music.Still though,it's an impressive piece of work, considering that you had little to play with in your travels.

It's open for all sort of additions or replacements

Just let me know if you want me to delete a track and make a new mix for you

Thanks for your interest

Yes and he did it with “taste”  :;

Great grove and I really liked the soundscape.

The percussion is much better in Ver2.

Great work here Kara  :-

This one attracted my attention from the very beginning.....amazing bassline mate....!
Very nice composition and "strange" rhythm.

It definitely needs vocals.... ;)
