“Just a Dream” is a song PSR has been working on for a couple of months now.  It started as the BiaB country ballad style and was morphed into this. SteveS is the singer,  BobH is finger picking the main nylon guitar rhythm while I’m playing the harmony finger picked nylon guitar, the bass and the electric guitar lead. I either modified or wrote the remaining parts.

We hope you like it.

The lyrics:

Just a Dream

I just met the sweetest girl
The prettiest I've ever seen
And she thinks I'm a special guy
Or is this just a dream

Many times I've felt a spark
But this feels like a flame
And now that I've seen your smile
Things won't be the same

*** chorus ***
You came to me on a summer day
So often in my mind
And now that I've touched your hand
Will you stay by my side
Or is this just a dream
I hope it’s not a dream

The day will come-will say I do
And look in each other’s eyes
The reflections there-they will change
But you'll stay by my side

Funny how we just met
And all of this is new
Love at first sight is not a myth
It’s happening with you

--- chorus ---
You came to me on a summer day
So often in my mind
And now that I've touched your hand
Will you stay by my side
Or is this just a dream

Listening to this, I imagined a soft-focus video in the background of a young couple - quite cheesey I know, but it would fit.

It's a lovely song, and the arrangement surrounds and supports it beautifully.

Steve's vocals seem a bit hesitant in places. Was this deliberate or just the newness of the song? Either way, tell him to keep it like that. It adds a sort of naive innocence.

If you have a poem, I have a tune, and we exchange these, we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.

Outstanding work, Mr. D.!
I have to say it again - those guys are so lucky to have you on the roster...
Incidentally, this is the first time I've heard the the "New York" in Steve's vocal. Quite characterful...

Thanx guys for listening and the words of encouragement.

Will, it is just the newness of the song.  I wrote the chords as Steve was writing the lyrics then he immediately grabbed the mic and sang it, total time approximately 1 hour.  He took home the rough chord track and he did sing it again the following week but it lost its drive, so we kept the original track.

Oren, Thank you very much for those extremely kind words. I’m not quite sure what you heard was the NY accent though.  Most people associate that accent with New York city folk and we are far from that.  You probably just heard the Budweiser coming through  Wink

 wOO
Lovely song, PSR, beautifully executed.
Song reminds me of 'Bread' from the 70's.
Vocal is very 'Willy Nelson' IMO.

Thanx James for the outstanding review.
I’ll be sure to pass this onto Steve.
