I was communicating with a fellow PGMusic forum member about the old FM sounds and how they can be recreated in NI’s FM7 and/or FM8. Although I have FM7 I rarely use it so I thought why not do a retro 1980’s song using FM sounds.  Thus I picked out a style in Band-in-a-Box, modified it slightly, and came up with this.

The drums are from the electronic kit in Cakewalks TTS-1 soft synth and the guitar is me but all other sounds came from the FM7.

I hope you enjoy the flashback!

Great fun track.

This is just what I needed. It's been getting all to cold and miserable round here lately.

Thanx Will and Oren for the listen.  I’d glad you like it for the fun factor as that was my main goal here.

Flashback here  Grin
Alltough it's not realy a DX7 sound, it sounds more as one of those SID song which we used to make on a Commodore C64.
I had a DX-7 many years agoo, it was one of the first 'professional' synths I bought.

This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmp9yqhsjqg is a pretty good demo of it

This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiUJhm-BkNU&feature=related is one of those typical SID songs

Ah ah ah! Very well done, you really get that 80's sound and feel  Cheesy
I can imagine one of these david bowie's clone singer here (remember in the eighties there was a lot of singer that were bowie's clone, I mean the way of singing, not the look, like duran duran, Human League, and so on).
Thanks for the fun

Thanx Kara for listening.

Yea, I knew this wasn’t a typical DX7 synth sound. I still use that classic DX7 glassy E-Piano sound from time to time.  That is a great sound.  What I didn’t realize was that this song was so close to the SID sounds. That probably is due to the fact that I was into Atari and not Commodore at the time.

Thanx Mag for the very kind words.  I really appreciate them as I’m a guitarist and not really a keyboard player and this 80’s type soundscape is mostly all keys.
