Title: Calypso Post by: kara on August 01, 2010, 10:17:58 AM Every year I have a little holiday project that I take with me.
In general I just have a minimum of material with me, this year it was just a little netbook, with only Buzz software and audacity. The project was to experiment with FM synthesises. Although I'm pretty good with traditional subtractive synth theory, I find it pretty hard to program a predictable result with an FM synth. It's hard to predict how a modulator will change the sound of an operator. Well, I had fun making this song, but didn't advance a lot on FM synthesis. k Title: Re: Calypso Post by: offthewall on August 01, 2010, 09:08:56 PM :o
Well ... Mr Kara 8) this is not usually my sort of thing, but it did have me picking up the guitar and just 'running with it' :o If I can find some time I would LOVE to make some additions, here, with your permission :-* ;) James Title: Re: Calypso Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 01, 2010, 09:49:28 PM Kara,
I like the Jan Hammer vibe you have going here, but the drum track is very coarse & rigid,so it's not very fluent. It's rhythm is reminiscent of a marching band type of sound. I find it disruptive,as it clashes with the rest of the music.Still though,it's an impressive piece of work, considering that you had little to play with in your travels. -Thom Title: Re: Calypso Post by: kara on August 02, 2010, 04:34:34 PM It's open for all sort of additions or replacements
Just let me know if you want me to delete a track and make a new mix for you Thanks for your interest k Title: Re: Calypso Post by: offthewall on August 02, 2010, 08:57:38 PM ::)

Very nice composition and "strange" rhythm. It definitely needs vocals.... ;) Title: Re: Calypso Post by: kara on October 06, 2010, 12:40:14 PM It definitely needs vocals.... ;) Some day Azell will write vocals for it Thanks Peter k |
