Title: Jazz for Chuck
Post by: MarioD on November 01, 2015, 11:39:04 PM
Another quick and dirty song by JonD and myself.

JonD is playing the EP via his keyboard controllers.  I am playing the wind controller (tenor sax) and the fretless bass.  Band-in-a-Box is playing the drums.

We hope that you like it.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

I've been trying to get some audio files into posting shape all afternoon. Did a live gig last weekend and recorded on my Zoom. I've decided that the whole affair was a total failure from a saxophone perspective. I made too many mistakes; my piano player made mistakes; the recording in hollow; the mix between the piano (miced) and the sax (not miced) is awful); etc. I'm not posting the files anywhere. I'm going to work on doing some recordings in my office/studio ... much more satisfying :)

Sorry, for the above rant ... just getting some steam off.

Again, I like your track.

The drums, bass & sax are interesting...but unfortunately, the piano track ruined it for me,as there's entirely too much sustain....so much so,that the notes are overlapping too much, making the melodies very bitter.

I enjoyed this, although I can see Thom's point about too much sustain on the piano. Not a disaster for me, but would have been better with much less.

Thanx all for listening and the constructive comments.

JonD is in charge of the keyboard stuff so I will pass these suggestions onto him.  Note that a few others have expressed the same.

Funny thing about the piano ... I thought it was just fine.
