That's bad news :/
I've tried it in Powertracks and it works.
Perhaps you should send it to the Reaper developper and ask him why it crashes ?

I did try it rather quickly so may have done something wrong. When I get some time I'll try it again!

Thanks Kara! Looks like a nice tool to add to the arsenal.Very nice, especially for free.
There is also 'gspan' for free tuning..
I've always preferred OBTune, but it cost me $50. However, I've heard that since they stopped development and sale of it there is a free version somewhere on the net, I've just never been able to find it. I haven't spent much time looking though since I already have it! This one looks like there may finally be a reasonable replacement if it works as stated.  I can't wait to have some time to try it out.

James, I'm not sure the fault lays with the plugin: my reaper crashes with other plugins too...  :(

It seems to be a very cool plugin but still, I haven't figured out how to use it ???

I tried it again, without the crash......but, like Neon, I can't figure out how to make it work!  Followed all the instructions, but all it seems to do is mute the sound. And....it says 'click on the keys in between the panes to select what key to adjust'.....and one of them is 'H'.  Now, I know I'm getting old, but the last time I did any music theory they only went up to 'G'.  :o
Has anyone else actually had this thing working?
 ???

You are right, there seems to be problem or the manual isn't complete...
I've managed to make it work in powertrack the first time i used it, but now (for some strange reason) it doesn't do anything any more.

BTW. the fact that it mutes the sound in scan mode is normal, but it should display the notes in the left pane which it doesn't anymore here.

James, the 'H' is the german notation for a B :) don't ask me why, i just know it is

I've send a mail to the developper to ask him what is wrong

Update
I managed somehow to make it work, but there is a big problem....
It looks like the plug needs some master synchronisation that not every host delivers.
In powertracks it doesn't work....
It actually should start to scan as soon as you start the playback of your host software.

I've managed to make it work in Energy-XT, this host has a separate master sync component, and there it starts with the play button and it scans and displays the notes.

But !
It is very unstable, crashed a couple of times and there is definitively a problem with long wav file. It crashes systematically after more then 1 minute.

Conclusion : For the moment, forget it ! It's a good idea but not stable.
I'll see if I can get in contact with the developper to improve it....

Update  ;D

I've got an update mail from the developper
There is a new version available on http://www.globalmindmap.org/xytral/index_vvox_e.htm

He stated that this one has been tested in Reaper....
I don't have reaper but it still doesn't work in Powertracks....

Another update  ::)

I got it working in Energy-XT
It needs a bit of special setup, if there any energy-xt users here I can explain how to setup it up.
The trick is that the plug needs a master clock to syncronise with the host.

The plugin is quit powerfull, it certainly is worth a try !

Well, I downloaded the new version and still can't get it to work in Reaper.
Think I'll just bin it and stick with 'Rea-Tune' which does similar thing. Less sophisticated....but works.

I used Renoise as host for the vst, just to test if it worked...acually i misunderstood the purpose of the plugin, i don't think i'll be using it anyway, maybe go for death-vocal  :D

Must say i'm struggling with the competition, i've made 3 30sec tracks, but none with potential...   :-\
