Title: French autobahn
Post by: kara on September 07, 2008, 11:16:07 AM
It's raining  here, so no outside activities today  >:(
I've decided to contribute to Elwoodblues autobahn saga  ;D

French autobahn's most of the time resemble more to a battlefield then to a highway, french drivers are pretty agressive if you see what I mean  :-[
I wanted to transalate that in the song, so the song is pretty aggressive, for me style anyway...

All comments welcome as usual

oh BTW, the whole song is played live in one go, using Cakewalk project5, I'm planning to play this on the KM live gig as a demo of the possiblities of project 5  ;)

Good job of emulating the "Elwood Autobahn" style   O0
Once again, this could be the theme music for a video game. A first-class production.

Kara,

Wow....this definately has a F_R-E_N-C-H_ sound to it!The bassline is certainly aggressive enough, but once the synth riffs & chords came in,I found it quite relaxing-like that of an ambient piece...not all that aggressive overall, but that's quite alright though, because it's very enjoyable just the same. 8)

Not at all bad for a live piece, but if you were to fine tune it,I 'd like to suggest some variations in the drum track(but I suppose you would have done that,if you had prgrammed everything). ;)

This is an interesting spin on the Autobahn theme & thanks for keeping the theme going! :D

Here is a collab version with some traffic thrown into the mix.

Vroom is happy now.  ;D

@Thom
You are right, I was trying to achieve the agressive mood of the autobahn itself and in contrast the relaxed interior of the car :)
I agree with you that the drums could use some variation, but since you are live player yourself, you know that in that case you're a bit limited.
Thanks for the comments.

Kara, I loved the bass and drum work.  That coupled with the synth overlays makes this one top shelf for sure.

Maybe I’m out in left field here but I did not get a autobahn feel from it.  I did get a strong spy/detective vibe though.  It’s more like a contemporary Peter Gunn theme, at least to me.  This however does not take away from the fantastic job you did here and this is just my opinion.

PS – If you think you have aggressive drivers in France you should attempt to drive in New York State!

Well, at first this seems to come across as a very 'polite' autobahn. Mind you Wyatt sure put paid to that :)

Nice work guys :D
