1st thing that popped into my head on listening to this was.... Alan Parsons!, the general feel and especially the vocals, i'm loving this! My only criticism would be the instrument thats really at the front, the 1st onme you hear... not quite sure what it is - sounds a little like a tinny Clavinova, but for me at least, its much too far forward in the mix - distracts you from the rest, may I suggest a Rhodes electric piano sound instead and mixed a little quieter? Also in the bridge section where the strings and brass have a question/answer - maybe a little Rhodes solo over the top? Anyways, those are just my thoughts, but I really do like this song though Oh... whose song is it a cover of btw?

Didn't know the original. had to go hunting for it. As Rony said this is a very good clean cover. You can hear the lyrics too I too, found thi intro instrument a little sharp at first, but it seems better on a second listen.

I meant his interpretation of it sound like Alan Parsons lol I Have to admit, Kara, when you said it was a song by the Spinners - I was thinking of the old UK group from the 60's, I hadnt heard of the band you posted a link too heh If you fancy a laugh, take a peek at this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfCiGR6G9L0&feature=player_embedded# and skip to 2:30 they were a folk-ish type of band from Liverpool around the same time as the Beatles. I'm pretty sure James will know them.

Believe me .... I haven't checked out either of your YouTube links ...... sort of 'rising to a challenge' .... but I'm guessing from the style of this song that it was the 'Detroit Spinners', whereas the group that us Brits knew as the Spinners was a very 'cheesy' British folk group who gave folk music a rather bad name, to those who were involved with that genre at the time. Am I right ? btw .... very well done, Thom James

Paul,
As much as I love the 70's Mo-Town music,I over-stepped my bounds on this one...if I had an afro, maybe people would have recognized this song if I had done a better job,but I'm not black. I was not going for the Alan Parson's style.....it just worked out that way,as I am not much of a vocalist technique-wise.....I always add many tracks of the same vocal lines, because I have NEVER been able to bring my vocals forward enough in a mix with just a single vocal track.Your constructive criticsim is welcomed and I agree with you on every point you brought up,but after 3 days of wrestling with this,it's time to throw in the towel. Thanks for your comments. -Thom
