IMO, this is the archetypal nocturnal track: melodic and breezy but slightly surreal at the same time!  Grin And it was also composed after midnight too!  Smiley I hope you'll enjoy!

[EDIT: I added a new mix after Thom's reply - thanks Thom! I tried to follow your advice, the result is indeed much better. I also removed the SIR "mastering" reverb so it's drier now.]

T.O.,

I like the melodies here,as it's really spacey. Cool There some mixing issues here though..too loud-quite a bit of distortion here.

Also,I don't think the effects implemetions do the tracks & the theme of this song justice...I'd like to suggest that you remove the slight "room"-reverb from the bass & just a a chorus effect to it.
I think the arpeggio synth track is too forward sounding,as the reverb effect is too light-it sounds a bit boxy...I would add a very clean & crisp reverb-but with a longer reverb trail.
Finally,to top it all off well & really give this piece some ambience,I think you should implement a reverb/chorus combo effect to the lead synth.

This is a very interesting piece & I think it deserves extra attention to details & further development. Cheesy

Thank you Thom!!  Grin

I'll follow your instructions and make a  new version of the track with the modifications you suggested and then re-post! You're right in all your points - not that it's an excuse, but I composed this during the after-hours and so I mixed on headphones to spare the neighbours the sleepless night!  Grin Most of those problems were not that obvious on headphones, but now it's day and I'm listening on speakers... oh god!  Cheesy The bass especially... man, that sound sucks!

Thanks again for the comments and very constructive critique!  Smiley Smiley

Nice floaty sounds. Definitely agree the remix is better Afro

T.O.,

Sounds great T.O.-nicely done. Cool Every now & then,I am forced to use headphones-which is okay for mixing, but I only use them to finish laying down an idea....when it comes to mastering,I'll just wait until the following morning to do the necessary adjustments.
I suppose that once I get my Reason 4 software,I will be spending many-a-late-night-hour with headphones, but right now,I have a pair of Samson CH70-which are horrible for mixing on! Shocked Roll Eyes
I'm glad my suggestions worked out for you...keep up the killer outerspace stuff-it's really trippy! Evil

+1

I really like the chord progression and the “dreamy” leads.

Great soundscape!

Oh yeah, I got the feeling easily.
This is interesting for the unusual melodies. Surreal sounds solutions are the icing on the cake, here
cool stuff
