Title: Breathing Bodies Post by: Mellotronaut on March 31, 2007, 11:26:54 AM This has nothing to do with pop.
I wanted to make a tune, that doesn't move ahead and doesn't go sideways. I just liked to express the breathing. mel Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: Laguna Rising on March 31, 2007, 03:32:22 PM Hi Mello
highly unusual, but interesting in a particular way. it set an atmosphere and then create variations to it. I imagine it was a windy day while you were composing it ;D but it's a just a weird idea of mine Very original, what do you use ? Cheers Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: Marc JX8P on March 31, 2007, 11:57:32 PM Interesting, the track kind of invokes the feeling of big ships drifting through the fog on a cold, desolate sea searching for land. A slow, crunchy drum track slowly fading in between 01:00 and 02:00 would nicely complement it I think. Definetely a cool track but needs a few details to hold the attention in my opinion (a few effects here and there or so). I do like the build up though and as a background track it works very well. The ending is a bit sudden; this is one of the few cases where I think a fade out would work better...
Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: Mellotronaut on April 01, 2007, 10:08:48 AM Thank you very much, Laguna and Marc! :)
I like the images you evoke; indeed, it was a windy day and i can see the sea from our house. The track was entirely made with Zebra 2, my favourite softsynth. Very interesting thoughts, Marc. I, personally, don't want to add anything, because i like it as it is, rough and 'windy', but i'll try a longer fade-out. If you or somebody else likes to add something, feel free to do it. I could provide you with a wav-or a less compressed mp3-file. Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: one on April 03, 2007, 12:35:12 AM Hi Naut
Very evocative and enjoyable track... 1 :) Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: blipp on April 04, 2007, 01:06:50 AM Yeah the first image this brought to mind was a ship at sea due to the wavy sound of the synths. This is very atmospheric in it's own way. i do think it needs something more added later on in the track to hold the attention. Interesting track indeed.
Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: ToneCarver on April 06, 2007, 02:31:15 PM This is a very interesting piece. It reminds me of ocean waves rising and falling at different times, a cork or something bobbing up and down semi-chaoticly with the waves ... Also reminds me of some of Fripp and Eno's work on Evening Star. Well done.

Thank you very much for your reviews! I don't think, i'll add something....but, hmmm...yeah, why not trying an enhanced track with some beats.... . I love the 70's lps of Fripp&Eno..... :-[you're making me happy! mellohappytheman Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: Daniel Pompougnac on April 16, 2007, 04:53:01 PM Very Interesting. Some points remember to me "Clockwork Orange" ambient.

Interesting for sure. Cool atmosphere piece. Not sure if I really like it or not; mostly cause I don't understand all that well. But, there's lots of times I don't even care what I think ;) ;D Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: Mellotronaut on May 13, 2007, 07:49:18 PM Thanksy panksy, Fred and Daniel!
i wanted to enhance this music....but when? Hmmm Next week i'll try to be here more often...i think, i miss a lot of good stuff... :-[ Cheers Chris Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: Northern_Fist on May 14, 2007, 06:27:01 PM Well, this is different, Chris. Interesting for sure. Cool atmosphere piece. Not sure if I really like it or not; mostly cause I don't understand all that well. But, there's lots of times I don't even care what I think ;) ;D I'm with Fred. It sounds very interesting, but I have a hard time grasping it. It's very chaotic but it has a steady bobbing rythm. I really can't comment much else on it. Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: Frederik on May 17, 2007, 08:27:28 PM Has got me out of words too...
strange yet compelling is the best I can pronounce my thoughts on this one, bye, frederik Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: magmavander on May 25, 2007, 09:44:07 PM Well...
I liked it but yes, it's not easy to get in. It grows slowly... Title: Re: Breathing Bodies Post by: Mellotronaut on May 30, 2007, 05:21:08 PM Thanks guys for the reviews!
it shouldn't be an easy-going piece. I try to do things in many directions. ;) mello |
