Title: We have opened the MMA showroom
Post by: kara on October 10, 2006, 04:25:15 PM
What is the showroom ?

The goal of the showroom is to show potential users of what MMA is capable. I think the best way to show this is by showcasing some songs created by MMA.
I have uploaded the first song to the showroom. You can find the showroom on the Main Site in the MMA page.
Now listen to Amadeus and let me know what you think of him :)

If you have songs that you would like to showcase, just post them here and I'll put them in the Showroom.

Hey, this REALLY sounds good! My compliments to the chef :) Now, can you share with us how you did it? I know that you did a conversion of a Yam. style to MMA ... but, then what? Did you play parts on a synth? Or, is the whole thing a MMA production? Oh, and does the piece have name? My lack of a classical music education probably shows by asking the question.

But, seriously folks, if you come up with a composition which showcases MMA, please do share! Remember, the more people using the MMA, the more songs/styles will be created --- and that will be good for all of us!

Bob.

Yes I used the allmost ready beta of ys2mma, the upcoming YAMAHA (tm) style converter.
Since I started from a freeware style not made by yamaha the style had some errors in it.
A couple of the errors where corrected automatically by ys2mma. A typical error in 'not perfect' yamaha styles are that "note off" are not put in the same section as the "note off". Apparently Yam. keyboard don't have problem with this, because it seems that they send a all note off when there is a change of substyle in the song. The actual version of ys2mma does this in a very clever way by creating the notes off itself.
After doing the conversion, I've listened to the test song which is also created in an automatic way by ys2mma, and corrected the created style 'by ear'. Remark there was not a lot to do and errors I've corrected came from the original style file.

Once the style was ready, it was just a matter of entering a acceptable chord sequence and compile the song.

I've put this song in the showroom because THE WHOLE SONG IS CREATED BY MMA AND I DIDN'T DO ANY MIDI EDITING AND DIDN'T PLAY ANYTHING LIVE !

As the author of MMA I have to admit that I'm completely surprised by this. Certainly a result way beyond anything I expected when I started this "little" project! Amazing!
