For the first time in nearly 3 years, Ubuntu is offering their Studio operating system (both 32bit and 64bit) equipped with a low-latency kernel. The last version that was released with a low-latency(real time) kernel was 9.10.
This means that Ubuntu Studio can once again manage real-time audio. So, I've downloaded the system, burned it to disc, and installed it to a new hard drive.
Now it's time to test it to see how each feature performs... fun!
Serious audio chores are still handled by Puredyne, but it is almost 3 years since its release, and many of the accessory features are a bit cro-magnon by today's standards.
Ubuntu Desktop version 12.04LTS is also released, and I'm trying that one on our multi-media computer - wish me luck -
