A strictly percussion piece, done in Logic with the Alesis QS8 as MIDI controller. Turned out to be a bit too long, and somewhat funky in places (and not necessarily in a good way  Grin). As tends to be the case, could'a used a bit more time...

It's not easy doing without the other "colors", no?

TIA to those who listen and care to comment.

Well seeing as percussion is absolutely me weakest musical ability, I'm more than a little impressed you were able to do so much without any 'real' instruments Cool

Thanks Mario D, folderol and Oren. Grin

Anyone who's had any academic experience in composition, or who somewhere along the way has realized that certain professional areas in music require being able to do very diverse things, might enjoy exercises that are demanding and limiting. But, all things considered, one generally tends to like to use a wider palette of sounds.

I pretty much try to do something different most of the time, although in this case I was a bit surprised by how few had leaned towards using "conventional" percussion sounds. The idea of doing a piece that is pretty much all rubato goes along with the notion of trying to show alternatives to the "drum machine" steady beat tendencies. Although, as Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza might point out: "Not that there's anything wrong with it..." Wink
