The theme is 5x5 so I have:

5 parts

5 voice patches - only one playing at any time

5 keys (decending 5ths)

5 octaves total range

5 minutes - on alsa player, and IA website player. Audacious says 5.02 for mp3 but 5.00 for original wav :shrug:

5 recording methods
-1- both hands together to click track
-2- chords to visually observed bar lines - melody added by ear
-3- entirely pasted in sequencer matrix editor
-4- both hands together freeform - timing slightly corrected aftewards
-5- arps to click track - melody added by ear

Total of 175 bars

BPM multiples of 5
135
65
115
85 <- nearly forgot this one!
235? it's 6/8 so is it individual beats or 2 x triplets?

If you have a poem, I have a tune, and we exchange these, we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.

 Cool
I've listened to this 'beauty' a few times now  Kiss

My initial conclusion is that this is a 'Showcase de Folderol' in the range of styles and textures.
Superb content and mix.  Cheesy

My further observations concern certain sections.
The section 2 jumped straight at me from the 'Celtic theme' box and said "I would like to expand this into a full piece at some time in the future as a collaboration".
The section 4 had a similar effect on me, but holding back the Celtic card. This again could be expanded into a song (with vocals) in my head.  Roll Eyes
The section 5 had me wanting to play those 'arps' on acoustic guitar  Cool

All told, a thoroughly enjoyable compendium, Mr G.  Grin

LOVE IT! What did you play it on? The sounds have this wonderful nostalgic retro aspect to them and while I would normally find this amount of reverb too much, here it perfectly complements the sounds and gives the whole thing a nice dreamy quality. The only criticism - if you can call it that - that I would have is that I cannot really find something that connects the track as a whole, but having said that the sounds are so complementary that there's no real break in it either.

Thanks very much guys.
@James
Once I'd finalised this it also dawned on my that the individual parts could all be expanded as separate tunes.Also, because of my self-imposed restriction of one sound per section I didn't split out the arps in the last part. I agree they'd fit better as a guitar part Smiley
The very first part is in C then they go down in fifths from there, but if i split them out there is no reason why they can't have keys changed to something more appropriate.

@Marc
This was played entirely using voice patches in Yoshimi (ZynAddSubFX derivative). I can go overboard on reverb sometimes, but am glad you think I got it right this time! Also, I know some of the changes are a bit abrupt, and if I was doing something like this outside a competition setting I'd have put more effort into smooth transitions. However I had to do quite a bit of juggling to get exactly 5 minutes overall time, which didn't leave a lot of 'fiddle' space!
