It has me wondering what a talented programmer could do with just the Kara-Moon Shuniji Synth alone...

I don't know if I'm a talented programmer, but I know a thing or two of synth programming  Roll Eyes
So, I thought I could give this a try...

A KMshunji only song, 8 instances of the KM shunji and nothing else.
The most difficult was to program the drum sound.

For those who own the Kmshunji, don't search for the presets, all sounds are all programmed by me  Grin

For my taste, superior to your first H. G. Fortune composition.

It seems the Shuniji synth takes a musician several steps away from "normal", and forces one to create outside the accepted boundaries of music.

You have the knack, mom ami..... wOO

Have you downloaded the Ogg Vorbis codec from...  http://www.vorbis.com/  ...?
Have set up your media player to be the default player for all audio files?

Work your way methodically through the process, read the instructions on the Ogg site - success will be yours.

It is true that all HG Fortune synths take you to a new univers of sound.

Thom, download the free wave editor “Audacity”.  It will automatically play the ogg file.  No hassles and no extra codec downloads to do.

How do you judge if someone is a talented programmer?

I would say that you would judge that by the music they program.

Based on these last two songs of yours, you are very talented indeed!

Cool

Wyatt

+1

This soundscape just calls for a Sci-Fi movie.

Great song!

Kara,

I think you've just composed a musical score for the next "Close Encounters Of The 3rd Kind" movie sequel...this is really creepy stuff-impressively so! Evil Grin

Mario,

The Audacity solution could not have been any easier...I was listening to Kara's ogg file in a matter of seconds-thanks! Cheesy

Thanks for the comments  Cool

@Thom : You are right, i was inspired by close encounters of the 3th kind, and wanted to create a simular mood.

Actually the song is realy simple and is based on a C7 chord all the way.
It is something I'm experimenting with due to a discussion I had with some young music students. They state that modern music is more based on evolving sounds as where 'traditional music' was based on chord progressions. I think that is a very interesting discussion, what do you think ?

Anyway a 'modern' musician must, by definition, follow modern trends, and I'm doing my best  Wink

Kara,

I think that modern music is a mass convergence of anything & everything to a degree and it's just a matter of the individual deciding on what to incorporate in thier compositions and what to leave out.

Music is ever-evolving,as it has done so for several hundred years & while new sounds shape some of our music, there remains a "well" of "grass roots" that we all draw from in varying degrees.
In the late 60's,Jim Morrison predicted that electronic music would weave it's way into the mainstream and to his credit-with his amazing foresight,it rings true,as electronic music has peaked.
I don't follow trends per say,but rather,I roll with what inspires me-whatever that may be.
Am I rambling on here? Grin

..no..I think you are just rolling with your inspiration.  Grin

Interesting thoughts.

I find it curious, this trend of evolving sounds comes at the same time that
people are more and more settling for lesser quality mp3 compression.

I think there is an attitude amongst the younger set that if you have a smaller
cellphone or iPod, that you are more hip.

So of course mp3 is necessary..and if you listen with earbuds..
..maybe it doesn't really matter after all.    Sad

Cool

Very good atmosphere-based electronic track. The rhythmic element sounds almost like a diversion...
Good work with sounds
Shuniji is a great tool indeed  Smiley
