Hey,
As I've been spending a lot of time here these past few days playing terminator I thought I would post a song for you to listen to.
Two inspirations here.
First was seeing a concert recently by Scottish singer Dougie Maclean. I noticed he was using an unusual guitar tune which, on investigation, turns out to be an open C tuning of CGCGCE. When I tried it out it is a very sweet and melodic sound which perfectly matched the second inspiration. This was an evocative set of lyrics I got from my internet friend, Joel Sattler.
I put the words together with this new tuning and this song came out.
THE TIGHTROPE WALKER song lyrics
by Joel Sattler
At high noon oh
A drunk in black like Charlie Chaplin
Reminded me of what could happen
If things got too loco
The moon looked
Like the madam of a bawdy house
And as every customer came out
they took a shine or went without
And the rain clouds raining
Back in the black hole of the night
Sucked all the air out of the daylight
until we felt like suffocating
The drunkard in the bowler hat he laughed
He laughed and then he tipped his hat
he disappeared and that was that
just like a smiling Cheshire cat
We waited
we waited up there on the hill
So many people out there still
we'll won't forget them till until
Our homeland is our Mother still
You know,
The heartbreak can't go on forever
We must believe things will get better
just keep on hoping now and ever
the wheel will turn not or whether
lady dancer
high on the wire with umbrella
And with each step sing a capella
Be brave but don't fall off there
just hang on!
Oh optimistic tightrope walker
Remember that whatever happens
The show must still go on.....

Good to see you on here again
A very intriguing song, and nicely performed in it's simplicity

If you have a poem, I have a tune, and we exchange these, we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.

I'm glad that you stopped in again
You have been missed!
This is really good. Your finger picking is top notch. That C tuning is very unusual isn't it.
This is song is fantastic!
