 Lips Sealed
Here I am again .... I haven't gone missing, just had a whole bunch of that 'real life' thrown at me recently  Roll Eyes
With a bit of luck I'm through the worst of it ... and out the other end with a little contribution for 'over there'.
Easy theme this month ... just has to be in the key of E.

Using this to test out a new microphone  http://www.seelectronics.com/sEX1.html
So far, I'm loving it  Kiss

Just two guitars here.
Take your partners for a Simple Country Dance.

It's good to be back.

That mic has to be good, crystal clean recording  Cool
For my taste there's a tad to much reverb on the track

Great sound James. Super chops! I like this one a lot!

It’s just that every time you play a guitar instrument like this I get the overwhelming urge to sell all of my equipment and take up playing the radio Shocked

A great song that was expertly played

Two thumbs up  wOO wOO

Back on the scene with yet another stellar acoustic guitar maneuver - woh!
(the mic is a dandy, but it's that furry Englishman who makes the magic)

As I said 'over there':

Back to the straw bales, beer kegs and paraffin lamps. Classic folk style. Nice clean recording. Lovely simple melody. I was half expecting to hear a whistle - not that the tune really needs it.

Thanks for the comments, folks.

The new microphone has made some severe changes around this little studio  Shocked
The quality of information which it picks up is astounding ... which means, in turn, that it also shows all of the imperfections ... which means that the performance has to be altogether 'better' and more precise.  Huh
Hopefully this will be a good thing .... let's wait and see.  Cool

Just before I got this new piece of kit I actually set sail on a totally different project for this theme.
The theme itself ... a piece in the key of E ... made instant contact with my distant heritage.
When I first started to learn to play the Blues, in 1964 at the age of 15, one of my first idols was John Lee Hooker.  For those who don't know about this legendary figure ... in a snapshot .. a rotten singer with no sense of standard musical timing who had beer bottle caps hammered into the heels of his shoes to keep stomping time with.  Lips Sealed  I learned so much from him in those early years.
One of the first songs of his which I learned to play was Groundhog Blues. I wouldn't attempt singing back then but one of my buddies always was up for that.
This is my latest version ... just for fun  Cool

Complete opposite to my earlier submission.  Dark and dirty stuff  Cool

Your best performance to date - anybody who heard you for the first time (doing this song) would think you'ld been singing and playing electric guitar your whole life.

A BIG +1

John Lee Hooker was one of my first idols!  I have a lot of his early recordings on compilation CDs.  I have a number of early blues singers compilation CDs.  Great music.

I’m going to listen again but first I’m gonna line up one One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer  Wink
