This months theme is November in history and the composition has to be in a question & answer format.
Originally I was going to look at the well-known gunpowder plot, but then decided to look at the underlying politics. After that it seems a good idea to find a common thread for other November historical events. the ones I picked were:
The November 5 1604 gunpowder plot, was allegedly fuelled by discontent over Protestant control of England, and suppression of Catholics.
November 26 1940 marks the start of a particularly nasty attack on the Jews, in the name of keeping the German race 'pure'.
November 4 1956 was when Soviet troops moved into Hungary to crush the country's attempt to break free of Russia.
November 20 1980 was when Jiang Qing (one of the earlier revolutionaries) went on trial for treason in China. Later, the authorities claimed she committed suicide.
Control by the ruling minority today is probably tighter and more dangerous than at any time in recorded history. As usual, religious ignorance, and terrorist fears are being used as a smokescreen to support power grabs.
There is a verse for each, and the result is probably the darkest most ominous song I've ever composed.
My singing is pretty rough, but I hope it's bearable!

As Kara said you did nail the theme.
Interesting piece of music combined with some history, great job here.
It’s a winner in my book.

I think this is a star performance, Will. Come out of the closet, my man! You have a definite way with a melody. You have a penchant for excellent lyrics. All you need now is to warm up those tonsils a bit and develop some vocal confidence. I hope my rusty old warbling attempts have given you some encouragement (.....if he can do it anyone can....! ) This has got to be a winner. James

The boys from Pink Floyd are wishing they'd written this... Appropriately disturbing, and with a catchy hook that gives it the makings of a counter-culture anthem. Too good for KVR...

Thanks everyone for your very generous comments. I'm seriously uncomfortable trying to do any singing, and was dismayed to find how far my pitch-holding ability had deteriorated over the years At least, this time, I've composed something thats within my own vocal range!

Thanks a lot Wyatt & L.R. I'm very pleased you like it. Mind you, there's some really tough competition over there

Thanks kara, I had hoped for some sort of placing, and don't actually understand why the bottom four entries have no placing at all, nor do I understand why I'm amongst them Update: Scoops had made a mistake, and has now corrected the results. I just about scrape in at Number 10
