Title: Sea Song Post by: FourthMansions on August 19, 2007, 07:23:33 PM Hi all
As usual, this doesn't fit into any particular category. I originally wrote the melody a couple of years ago, then put it aside, only coming back to it recently. Comments very welcome. http://www.kara-moon.com/download_song.php?download_id=4377 Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: kara on August 19, 2007, 07:56:09 PM Sounds rely fresh 8)
Good interaction of the different instruments You realy know your way in harmonisation, real good work Great song k Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 19, 2007, 09:06:21 PM Hello,
Very unusual style & a very bold and snappy drum track that I like very much. I was thinking though, that if you added some chord progressions in the backround with some reverb, that would paint a good aural picture, describing the vastness & atomsphere of the ocean. Just thinking out loud, hope you don't mind. 8) Elwood Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: offthewall on August 19, 2007, 09:26:25 PM :D
I also think this is a lovely composition. ;) I would love to hear the difference it would make if it were transcribed into 3/4 or 6/8 time signature. I'm sure that would give it a more 'rolling sea' feel ! Just my opinion! ;) James Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: folderol on August 19, 2007, 10:02:04 PM This is very nicely done. However, it says 'river Amazon' to me rather than 'sea'.
Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: FourthMansions on August 20, 2007, 07:29:25 PM Thanks for listening, guys, and thanks for the comments and suggestions. I'll give them a try next time I take the lid off this one.
Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: Martin E on August 20, 2007, 07:41:58 PM I like the approach you're having in this track.
I'm not too fond of the cellosound though. It seems to lack sufficient character to carry the the melody well enough. Also a second counter melody half way through would make it more interesting Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: FourthMansions on August 21, 2007, 06:10:36 PM Hi Martin
Thanks for listening. I like the idea of a counter melody - might see what I can come up with when I have some more time to work on this one. Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: Daniel Pompougnac on August 29, 2007, 09:08:04 PM Cool and beautiful stuff.
I like ambient and classical music, so no drums is better for this kind of music, in my opinion. I like. Nice choice of sounds here.
As already suggested possibly some reverb and maybe some chorus might be in order. But I’m nitpicking for sure! Plus I would not add these effects through out the song, just in select places, as this sounds damn good as is! Just my thoughts - MarioD Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: Laguna Rising on September 08, 2007, 09:56:40 AM Hi Fourthmansions
Nice stuff ! Very dense harmonies. I like the melody and I won't describe it as happy or sad but it sounds very good to me (for the atmosphere it builds) Drums works good and sounds Ok Cheers Title: Re: Sea Song Post by: FourthMansions on September 08, 2007, 07:07:20 PM Daniel, Mario and Laguna
