Title: Akai MPC500 Sampler/Sequencer Workstation
Post by: elwoodblues1969 on October 07, 2007, 02:13:06 AM
I carefully combed through the features & specifications of this external midi sequencer in Akai's website, and thier online manual is a joy to read through,as it clearly outlines it's functions.
The manual gives you very simple, yet elaborate instructions that anyone can understand-which I love, because I have no experience with midi recording.

The descriptions of this product make it very evident that it's designed to work well with keyboards(unlike the Korg modules),with regard to sequencing complete songs.
The power of this sequencer is comparible to my Triton-which is utterly amazing for it's size & price range(it's a bit more expensive than the Korg modules, but does so much more with midi sequencing).

SOUND GENERATOR

Sample rate: 44.1kHz

Memory: 16mb(expandable to 128mb)

Recording time: 136secs.(mono)

Polyphony: 32

EFFECTS

10 different effects(2 master effects)

SEQUENCER

Pattern based,48 track with time correction(1/4,1/8,1/16 & 1/32-including triplets)

100,000 note capacity

16 midi channel

All in all,a very well reviewed product, & seemingly, the best external midi sequencer for under a grand($699.00(USD)

Certainly the most usable & impressive one I've come across to date.

This one is definately going on my wish list. ;D
