Title: I would like to show....
Post by: kara on January 10, 2008, 01:20:26 PM
of the skills of the forum members and the advantage of collaboration trough the forum as a reference for visitors here  ;D

So here is my idea
I've created a standard blues progression in D with BIAB as reference for a song, i've made it pretty long (88 bars)
Now what I would like to do with you guys is reconstruct the song but ONLY with live playing musicians.

So who is in ?

Here is some kind of method to do this.

1. We need a good drumtrack to start with. I've heard some very good drumtracks here on the forum.
2. We need a bass track. I know we have some good bass players.
3. Other tracks can be added. We have some good keyboard players here and allso a couple of guitar players that can solo over it.

So, can we do this ?
I propose that I do the mixing of all the tracks

Ok Rony, I'm in if you want it. I PM'ed you a .ogg; one "round" of hammond lead in typical D blues scale.

Now it may not make the cut. As although it was done with all the human splendor and frailty (plenty of that as you will hear :D) I could muster, it is played into a sequencer and then bounced to wav. Its just the way I'm set up.

Have fun with your experiment  :;

Great Fred  8)
I'll listen to that this evening.

Will somebody do the drum track to start with, or do i have to do it myself ?

I have a lot on my plate at the moment so I'll try to do some guitar next week. Can't help you with the drums at the moment I'm afraid.

Thanks Martin
I'll work some drumtrack out during the weekend.

I'm actually asking myself, do we have a real drummer here on the forum ? Don't think so, where are those guys hiding ?  ::) ;D

I have free time for a few days now.  Will tinker with it too.

Hey Rony, I didn't think about this before (an age thing I guess :-[), but you'll have to align my track by ear and there's a lead in. Its not going to slide right in the way I sent it to you. So when you figure out in what round you want it (time wise) I'll send you a track that aligns correctly.

Title: Re: I would like to show....
Post by: kara on January 12, 2008, 10:04:47 AM
ok let's kick this one off
I've created a drumtrack on which everybody can allign his tracks.
This is the construction :
2 bar leadin
4 bar intro
then it loops over 12 bars a section and 12 bars b section until the end

Remember the goal is to create a standard 12 bar blues in D, i suppose that everybody knows the chords, but just in case....  ;D
4 bars D7, 2bars G7,2 bars D7, 1 bar A7, 1 bar G7, 2 bars D7

I think the best way to get this organized is
1. Lay down the whole bass track, James volonteered for this
2. We need a keyboard rythmic track (rharv ?) for the whole track.
3. Then everybody can put his part over it, with a length of his choice

I'll do the mix, can I ask that everybody that contributes, keeps the 2 bar count in in his track (at the start); this will make it easy for me to line up the tracks.

The goal is, when this song is finished to sticky it at the top of the board as an example of how good we are :D

Here we go :D

Wow that's some sound, I love it
On what did you play this ?
We will fit this in once we have the basic layout of the song

Aaah!  I just spent an hour doing a drum track.. bumming.
Well- here it is anyway, incase you want it for anything.
I'll download yours too..and have a go at it.  I worked hard to get the drum ending to line up with your ending..

**I removed the drum I did to reduce any chance of confusion..

I thought, being a keyboard player, you had already done the comping.  What do you want it on? Piano? Organ?...
I thought I'd try a bass track too, just for fun.

Title: Re: I would like to show....
Post by: rharv on January 12, 2008, 02:33:26 PM
OK, here's  'a bass track' to try out.  If you like it, cool, if not let somone else have a go at it.
At first I felt bad doing it, since James said he'd do one too, but I know james also has a lot of other instruments he can pitch in on.  I figured I would just try to jump-start it since bass will set the groove for it. If you don't like the direction I took it, have James take a shot at it. Can't hurt to have a few to choose from.
I'm one of those 'check your ego at the door' guys so no hard feelings either way.

Still need an answer on what kind of comping you want- piano or organ?
Piano would probably be easier to mix in with everything, so I'll probably try that i I get a chance unless I hear otherwise.

Title: Re: I would like to show....
Post by: kara on January 12, 2008, 03:19:06 PM
@Rharv, you're a guy full of surprises, I didn't know you played bass  8)

ok; let's start with this
i think piano comping would be the easiest to lay the other tracks over it.

Wyatt, start practising, we'll need some of that harp :)

Title: Re: I would like to show....
Post by: kara on January 12, 2008, 03:24:28 PM
I actually think that for the comping an alternation between piano and organ would be a good idea ?
So here is what i propose : Rharv lays out the piano comping for the whole track
As soon as i have the track i'll mix it in, 12 bars alternating piano, 12 bass silence
Then Fred can do the organ part
Fred allready did an intro, but i didn't manage to line it up  ::) I'll need the 2 bars lead in...

Does this sound ok to you guys ?

k

Title: Re: I would like to show....
Post by: rharv on January 12, 2008, 03:39:19 PM
If you meant '12 bars piano, 12 bars silence', I follow you..
It came out as '12 bars piano 12 bass silence'..which I was confused on until I substituted the 'r' for a 'b'.
 Is that what you meant?

Either way- I can just play through it and you can edit..hey, wait a minute; if I did bass why don't you do the piano?   (and you're being kind by saying I can play bass, I fiddle around with it)

Title: Re: I would like to show....
Post by: kara on January 12, 2008, 04:06:23 PM
of course i ment bars  ::) i should reread my posts before posting  :(

actualy the basic idea is that I do the mixing of all the tracks  :))
So i would rather avoid to play on it myself, but i will if needed of course  ;D

Fred allready did an intro, but i didn't manage to line it up  ::) I'll need the 2 bars lead in...

Its a 12-bar round, Rony. It won't work as the 7-bar intro. But like I said, once you figure out where you want it, I'll send you a file that lines it up.

Hey Rony, its Native Instruments B4. Its a pretty good Hammond emulation.

@Fred, yep i found the 12 bars :)
Sounds like you played it a tiny litle bit upbeat

Great playing by the way  8)
Sounds great as a bridge i think ....

Does this sound right to you
I've left the click track in it as reference

Does this sound right to you

Nope ;)

It starts on the 4-bar D7 section with just a partial bar lead in. It plays through the standard 12-bar progression.
4 bars D7, 2bars G7,2 bars D7, 1 bar A7, 1 bar G7, 2 bars D7

So in your original track, it sounds like this.

Again, I'll align it for you if you want.

Let's keep it
It sounds good as bridge, when whe have the comping track, it'll be esay for you to fit it in

Here's some piano slice and dice as needed.
I tried to keep it out of the way to leave room for everyone to jam.

I got a browser error at the end of the upload. Let me know if there is a problem with the file at your end.

Thanks Rarhv  8)

So here we go, all nicely lined up and labeled in audacity

Now...

@Fred : I've left the room for the hammond break, can you line it up now ? I was thinking that it would be nice to have a hammond entry allso ?
There are 2 bars intro before the 12 bar loops, actually if you're starting from the actual start of the count-in (so before the drum) you'll have 4 bars, which would be nice i think.

To make this song a not to wild unorganized jam and make it a coherent (is that english ???) or perhaps consistent song, I was tinking that now we should start with a 12 bar theme at the beginning. This 12 bar theme will be used then for others to adapt, extend, whatever in the other 12 bar loops.

Who can make such a theme ?
I was thinking about Wyatt and one of his lovely harps but don't know with all the PC problems he has, if he is able to record something at the moment. Wyatt ???

Anayway for the first 12 bars keep it simple, don't forget that guitar players will need space to play around it.

This is fun  ;D

How about a 12 bars guitar solo that i can fit in somewhere ?

I played my Steinberg bass thru my Behringer GMX210 amp, using line out to record.
I was using the 'tweed' sim in it.

Then I put a gate (from reaper) on it and used the PGDynamics compressor with preset 'bass-fix inconsistent touch'.
I did it all in Powertracks as usual.

Barry was over today (music friend) and he commented on how nice of a sound I'm getting from it too.  He called it a 'bite' with some round to it...
..I must be doing something right; two compliments on my bass sound in one day.

i actualy tought of the fred's solo as a break, but ok let us use it as THE theme
good idea Oren.

so, fred; can you line it up with the first 12 bars ?
and oren, can you then do the second 12 bars

this will give an idea of where we're going

As Bob's making such a great job of the bass line, here is a little 'Ry Cooder-ish' riff that might fit in somewhere.
It's just a single 12 bars which can be copy/pasted, or not!
If you want to extend it any just let me know.

Good one James  8)
I had to look up Ry Cooder to know who it was  ::)

A nice theme and open for developpement, exactly as I imagined it. You are in the first A section. Makes it possible to use it as the base theme and develop it somehow in the B section.

Hey, I just got Linux to play MP3s. Neat!

I'm thinking that as well as interesting instrumental themes, this tune has room for some vocal action. Maybe concurrent with the riffing to provide multiple layers of interest. There are many accomplished vocalists hereabouts...

A possible lyric theme: "Send You on Back to School", about re-educating people on what an internet collaboration blues tune can sound like. Maybe several languages, maybe some harmony action....who knows where this wind could blow, Joe!

Hey Rony!

I think the tune has taken on a little different flavor since I played the lead hammond part. So, really, I don't think it fits very well and I'm not sure I would include it. What you have so far is sounding pretty good!

I don't really have time to redo it right now....so...

I aligned it after James' Cooder thing, so it would sound like this:

Here's the .ogg in case you want it.

Let me give it a listen today and see if maybe I can come up with some ideas on how I could change what I did to help you fit better...

I think it fits fine for the song still, it's just a very abrupt change from what James did.
If you want a better fit, have Rony plug it in at the 2:40 section where the piano drops out....or cut the piano from another section.

Title: Re: I would like to show....
Post by: kara on January 16, 2008, 12:58:39 PM
I actually agree with Rharv
It is to abrupt to put it in the B section right at the start.
But I still think it is a good break. I'll put it in this evening and post it.
That way everybody can say what he thinks of it.

Now, Oren had a good idea ! Put some lyrics in it.
Any change we could have a vocal trio Rharv, mrharv & Oren again :D ?

This is fun !

All I can do is ask the two bosses... ::)

..and yes, this is fun.  It's why I hang out here.  Collabs are very helpful in learning, experimenting, and creating.  I'd have never done that bass line without that drum track, now I learned a few other licks on bass to add to my seriously limited bag of bass tricks.  Plus I think I found a sound I like for the bass. I haven't touched anything in that setup.  Maybe I should get out the glue gun and stick those knobs right where they are at!

Rony, now you hear how it fits the progression, so feel free to do whatever you want with it, including not using it. No worries here.

I think Bob didn't use the flatted 7ths (or its my ears) which has a little bit to do with it, but mostly its about the feel....I probably should have waited until further developed to add a part.

Perhaps some snearing (what a word  ::) ) guitar lead together with the hammond for the break ? Anyone ?

...I think Bob didn't use the flatted 7ths ....

Only occasionally on the G-A before the turnaround.  I was trying to be as basic as I could to allow as much open room for others as possible.

Here's a guitar part to back up Fred's solo (gtr1.ape)
and then a solo track to follow(gtr2)....like I could follow that..
as a matter of fact you should put his track at the end so noone has to follow it!

Just along for the ride.
Take 'em or leave 'em, no offense.
gtr1.ape (http://www.yourbestsound.com/Media/gtr1.ape)
gtr2.ape (http://www.yourbestsound.com/Media/gtr2.ape)

Fred- did you mean flatted 7ths (like a 'G' on the A chord)
or flatted as in a minor?
I think your part lays nice where he put it now, except Kara needs to cut out my couple piano chords that play during your lead in (my opinion)...

I tried to just fill in a bit with the guitar chords during your solo on Kara's latest version, and introduce the guitar sound into the song for the solo that follows.

"I wish my fingers weren't so fat"
quote by rharv after listening to solo.. :-\

The flatted G for the A7 chord. Not really that important though. Its mostly how I chose to interpret our "blues" experiment  ::).

@ Oren : Looking forward to that vocal action.
I hope mrharv will join too with some backing choir vocals, perhaps Azell can then double up the backing....
And... you'll better prepare for some completly new form of collab. I'm doing the mix in Audacity and once the song is done, I'm planning to send you the complete audacity project file to do the mastering. I'm curious how this will work out, this will become a multi OS project  ;D

Here are some vocal ideas and some snearing guitar, layered over Kara's latest track.

The arrangement is changing so rapidly that I just laid my stuff down and ran away - some re-organization is in order. And what is the story on the last 12 bar segment ...is a surprise ending planned :D?

That might add to the "live" feel. Except that most drummers I know go berserk at the end - can't shut them up....  Perhaps a gunshot...then a scream: "oh lordy, somebody shot the drummer"...then Bob: "good timing; I was about to shoot him myself"......  ;)

Playing with it here, I think Oren's guitar solo works great on the verse after his first vocals, which then leads into the organ solo... this would take a little puzzle re-arranging, but sounded very good here..

k

Playing with it here, I think Oren's guitar solo works great on the verse after his first vocals, which then leads into the organ solo... this would take a little puzzle re-arranging, but sounded very good here..
let me know if you want his guitar track this way, I already did the editing for it..

@Rharv
Hmm, something is missing, I don't have that B section that you play on  horns, only the A section. The section after the guitar of Ofthewall is missing here....

k

Hmm...  I'll go repost it as the whole section.  I thought I included it, but I've been wrong before. Just ask my wife, she'll vouch for that..after she stops laughing..

Yeah, new pieces added to the puzzle  8)

@Rharv : I cut a bit in your first hornline, I hope you don't mind, I wanted to keep the Offthewall section on the foreground.
And it still sounds as mrharv has some homework to do  :o ;) If we have some backing vocals, i'm sure Azell will double them up...

@Oren : I liked the idea for the ending, the gunshot is allready there  ;D

So, I need 2 voices for the end :
One saying : oh lordy, somebody shot the drummer
And another :   good timing; I was about to shoot him myself

@Fred : I hope you agree now, that it is a good break  ;D

Now @all  ::) :
We need something for the last section, which is still empty...
If everybody has to play somehow a bit together for the finish, you'll have to agree a bit amongst each other... I propose that you use pm for that  :D

I'll lay down some guitar noodles that will fit the last section....

Leveling,Panning,EQ, cleaning up some background recording noises,....
I've allso worked on the end of the song, the 2 voices are still missing but it gives a good idea how it will be. And I've added a litle hint at the end of the song  ;D

Kara, rharv suggested I put a lead guitar part into this project.  Being the late bloomer that I am I noticed this is well on it’s way to being a collaborative winner as is!  I really couldn’t feel a spot where another lead was warranted.

So I laid down a rhythm track.  If it’s not too late give a listen.

Feel free to use any, all or none of it.  NO problem.  If you have suggestions feel free to express them.

PS- you guys did a fantastic job on this.

Cool Mario- thanks for jumping into the fray!
We try to do a lot of these collabs around here.  The next CD will have a lot of collab work on it, so I hope you jump in there too.
I'll go plug this into my version amd see what comes out.  I know there were a couple hollow spots in the song, so I'm glad you picked up on that need.
Still needs a solo at the end tho'.

Do you really think the fade out ending needs a guitar lead over top of the horns?

Title: Re: I would like to show....
Post by: rharv on January 20, 2008, 03:22:17 AM
The horns may not stay (probably aren't). This is a Kara project and he has ideas for the ending.  I just shoved those horns in there to fill it in for my example mix.

Thanks to MarioD, we have a new version, with rythmic guitar over the first sections after the intro sections.

It took me some time to mix those in, mainly because i migrated the whole project to my Linux daw( and thanks to rharv for syncronising the guitar track).

I think that at the moment the song is 2/3 ready, to me its ok until after the second vocal section. So, now we need contributions for the last bars.
I propose that we wait until i have the final solo played by Oren, to see what we can do around this solo.

Allso, don't forget that I need the spoken vox for the ending  ;D

I wasn't trying to avoid the vocal action. Everyone in the house but me had some kind of cold for a few days now. Coughing, raspy...not the best for recording Michelle, and my lines were suppose to follow hers...so things are on hold here.
If someone else wants to do it- go for it. No need to hols up progress.

Here's a follow-up to Will's effort, but I'm hoping someone else has already sent one in....

And a "cyber guitar" thingy for the end. It is phrased so that if MarioD comes up with some tasty riffage, Kara can just use just the last 1/3 of my contribution to usher out the gunshot....

okay (did you hear my american accent here  ;D ) new version with the end in it.

The last section has oren's guitar now.

Here are some toughts
- Oren is right, we'll need some rythmic support for the last section, Mario or James or somebody...?
- I do like the vox of folderoll wich has that distinct english detached & cool feeling in it, I like less the Oren reply... it is a bit to detached to my feeling, hard to explain.
Let's say that it doesn't realy sound as an answer to will.. it sounds to much as a ripped sample from somewhere and not realy in the right context.

Other comments and ideas are allways very welcome  ;)

Kara,

The first 2/3 of that cyber-guitar thing are a bit shaky. I was hoping we wouldn't actually have to use it... :D (Mario may still come through and bail me out with some real guitar in that spot)

A suggestion: Will's vocal could be re-positioned about one second later in the song and boosted 2dB to give it the definition it deserves. Then, drop my little comment back in the mix by cutting 250 Hz (and below) by 12dB, and lowering the overall level by 2dB. Voila. C'est tout. Bonne nuit.  ;D
(my vocals were submitted without any tonal shaping or effects applied so you could adjust them to your taste  :-*)

Oren, if you could send me a mp3 with the areas you want a guitar lead in, with the current leads erased, and the bpm I will try to add something.  I find it extremely hard to play over a lead; I always end up riffing with the lead.

No promises but I will try.

@Oren : Thanks for the advice, it sounds way better now.

The end part is allmost ready now.
Here is what I've done:
- I've brought back in the rythm part of MarioD after the second vocal verse.
- As this had the perfect length to fit before the last 1/3 of the cyber solo, I've cut out the first 2/3.

As you can hear, we only need another short solo between the second vocal verse and the  last solo that is allready there.

So, a litle effort from somebody please  :-\ ;D

Kara, here is an attempt at an ending guitar lead. Feel free to use it if you want.  If you’re looking for something else feel free to ask.

Note the only way I could line this up was to add silence at the first measure, record the last measures then combine the clips.  SO this will line up at measure 1:1:0.  You will have to cut out all those measures of silence.  Sorry, that is the only way I know how to do it without a tempo (BPM) map.

Kara,

If you want that last comment to blend even better, add a little reverb to roughly match Will's effects.

I just plugged Mario's MP3 guitar solo into PowerTracks and it lines up nicely with the latest version. EQ, effects, and levels are about right, too!

Bob's solo guitar style has that Neil Young vibe   :;
If anything, maybe back it off in the mix a little to ensure the lyrics are clearly intelligible.

The new version ....

I think I finally have all the levels right.

But... I tought of something, when listening to the song with fresh ears I asked my self : but what on earth happened with that brass section, they had a hart attack after the first section  ???
So, I was thinking since some people are not convinced of the guitar under orens voice in the second verse, I could trade this with some brass action around Orens voice. What do you think, rharv ?

k

Title: Re: I would like to show....
Post by: Oren on January 24, 2008, 07:30:42 PM
Kara,

Great mix!

The song seems to have a direction now, starting with a very organic Dixieland Blues vibe, then gradually moving towards a more electric style, while staying with that cool drums and bass foundation that you and Bob concocted. Bob's grunge guitar nicely compliments that theme.

If you want to take this direction a step further, try a little phase shift or flange effect on my voice in the second verse to give the impression we're moving into cyber-space, where things are somehow just...different.... >:D
(you may also want to flange/phase the last comment to maintain the effect)

Oren.

Kara.

Great mix!

I like it the way it is but if you want to bring the horns back in I believe adding them as background to the last leads would be the way to go, i.e right after the last vocal and ending at the gun shot.  Kind a like closing every out, i.e. finalizing it.

It does sound very good...but you know me (picky)..

Oren's guitar solo needs to be up a hair here, the piano intrudes in a couple spots

I think the scream and crowd noise need to come down about 4 dB and Oren's reply about 'shooting the drummer himself' should be *almost* buried in the noise, in other words pulled down a bunch so you have to pay attention to hear it, yet it's noticable just enough to make you listen for what it says... we call it psycho-acoustic level here; where it's just loud enough to make you say 'wait-what was that?' .
Pink Floyd's producers and engineers mastered this perfectly.  Everyone knows all the little segues between their songs; not because they were prominent but because they caught your attention at a very low level.

-'if you don't eat your meat you can't have any pudding!!'-

Rharv,

You have VERY good ears  ;)
It is true that in the last mix, I pushed the piano a bit up, amazing that you heard that. I pushed it up a bit because I tought it wasn't pearcing trough the mix at some spots, propably because I play piano myself.
I'll see how I can fix this and will play a bit with the ending vocals.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it a lot  8)

Take a break from it for a couple days, then insert it into a playlist of other songs (listen to it along with some other music).
This usually helps with final touches.  If you even 'notice' something, jot it down.
Then adjust it and put it to bed.

I know this is a bit late but I went through the WHOLE of this thread the other night and listened to each mp3 Take as I read the posts.
Listening to you guys build a complete song from a spark of an idea and hearing the changes as you discussed them in the posts just blew me away. Not just the final cut, which was a fabulous peice of music, well mixed and produced by ALL involved, but also the fact that it was done over the net without even meeting.

Thankyou for the pleasure of this thread :) I look forward to hearing more in the future and, who knows, maybe even taking part myself.

Now that's diligence!

As I'm sure you've already surmised, the real strength of this forum is that collaborative spirit, and the supportive attitude of every site member.
So, next time someone here invites some creative input on a new project, jump in - even if it's not your style of music. A Norwegian fellow - Roger - who goes by the handle "mlit" recently requested a collaboration partner for our next download album. He's very talented with his Renoise software, and with your old-school guitar style, it could get very cool....

By the way, you wouldn't be the gentleman who knew Tony Furbank, by any chance?

Oren.

That's Me. Tony Was My one of my best mates. I say WAS but ,even tho I don't see myself as a religious person, I swear he's looking down and giving me a prod now and then to get on with creating.
It was Tony that got me into BIAB but I never really did anything with it until recently after he passed away. We used to talk every day passing newly learnt Tips to one and other. He Swore by Powertracks, but I wouldn't give in as I already Have Cubase studio 4 And Pro Tools LE 7. I'm glad I have it now tho as its a great program considering the price.
He talked a lot about you, as well as one or 2 others and, if I'm right, didn't he do a collab with you?

btw, As to mE playing the Guita?  I'm no guitarist.. It's smoke & mirrors  :)

Oops I'm waffling. lol

Bob Harvey (rharv) and I collaborated with Tony on "The Children Pay the Price", and a few other tidbits over the years. Tony mentioned that after so many years covering other people's songs that he would like to "find" his own vocal style, and "Children..." was a bit of an exercise in going for a definitive Tony vocal.

(I have a version of that song recorded by Tony in a different key, country-style. If you would like a copy for your own, let me know and I'll send it to you.)

Most definately, my friend. For 2 reasons..
My own listening pleasure AND I am trying to gather as much music that Tony has recorded to compile a couple of CDs for his wife & friends (I have about 35 tracks so far, including a few he did as collaborations).
The problem with Tony was that whenever he recorded anything and found fault, he deleted it. Luckily he recorded a few odds and ends at my house he "Wasn't happy with", but I tend to keep everything :) I sent Russ (From the PG site) a copy of my CD i made recently (just home recorded Cover songs for family & friends) which I decided to include 10 of his recordings and dedicate it to him as he was my biggest inflence on the music and songs I did. it's all Country stuff, but I'd be happy to send you a copy if you like.
I guess I need to work out the private message thing next to give you my E mail :)

This thread escaped my attention completely...
The blues was my early compagnon in music and from time to time I get back to it.
A coinsidence I´m just doing a 'remake' of "Room with a view", with the vocals of my old blues buddy´s female singer (Mark & the Mondaylovers).
I´m half way with the 'job', check it out, cheers,

Max... .. . :;

Max..this is wonderful..great way to start the day.

Some of the choicest electric blues I've ever come across :-*

It's good to hear someone who knows how to put flange/phaseshift on a vocal - great effect.

First-rate guitar action, too :;

I´m glad you noticed that 'vocal fx' ! ;D
There´s a funny story behind it...
I convinced my friend, Mark de Wit (the MondayLover) to buy that small Zoom digital recorder.
I was hoping he could send me this way some samples of his singer.   He´s too busy with his music and band though.
Then I remembered the kOckOut plugin (to isolate the vocals out of a song).
I tried it out on a song I had with her voice on.  As the developper states, the result is not perfect, but it functions !
There are 2 ways to get it done, so I did that and put 1 track 30% left and the other 30% on the right.
The flange/phase/chorus/doubling fx is the result of all this...

Just one more example of an invention based on a casuality... ;)

I´m sure you and I would have liked a more sofisticated theory behind it... :'(

Cheers mates,

Max... .. . :;

Without any doubt, Kara ! Mark is a very active guy : lots of concerts ! And he played with many people !
It would rather be a strange coinsidence not having bumped upon him some were in the past (knowing it was already looooong ago you had your 18º birthday party).
