Title: Extended track Post by: offthewall on January 23, 2008, 04:01:18 PM :D
I had a message from Mick Emery asking if he could put some horns on my Broken Bottle Blues (contest entry). Just for fun I added another verse and Mick put the horns in around the existing song. Here is the result. ;) James Title: Re: Extended track Post by: folderol on January 23, 2008, 07:48:10 PM Works well :)

Title: Re: Extended track Post by: Mick Emery on January 26, 2008, 03:31:48 PM Hi James,
When I didn't hear from you, I thought maybe the tracks didn't suit. The section reminded me of playing with the www.BoogieKings.com (http://www.BoogieKings.com) in the 60's. The tune would start, the horn players would look at each other & just play. Each guy would find his harmony part & voila! Not every tune was done that way!!! LOL Just jams. Glad it was okay, Mick Title: Re: Extended track Post by: rharv on January 26, 2008, 04:48:45 PM I've played many jams like that. They were always fun.
The best one was at a naacp dinner in the early 80's. We were scheduled to play from 7-9PM and play our known catalogue of jazz. At 2 AM we were still jammin' with various people who pulled the old 'I just happen to have my guitar(or bass etc) in the car, can I play?' It was a blast. SirDuke (StevieWonder) seemed like it went on for hours, as did On Broadway..good memories. Title: Re: Extended track Post by: offthewall on January 26, 2008, 04:54:18 PM ::)
Quote When I didn't hear from you, I thought maybe the tracks didn't suit. Sorry Mick. I been so busy that I just posted it here presuming that you would see it. Anyway, thanks for the input. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next time. 8) Gee, I love these collabs. ;) James Title: Re: Extended track Post by: Mick Emery on January 26, 2008, 06:04:26 PM I should really spend more time here.
Mick Title: Re: Extended track Post by: kara on January 26, 2008, 06:20:58 PM True, we need sax players here for collaborations :D
k I should really spend more time here. Mick Title: Re: Extended track Post by: Mick Emery on January 26, 2008, 06:43:31 PM If I find one...I'll tell him!
Mick Title: Re: Extended track Post by: rharv on January 26, 2008, 07:56:46 PM If you listen to my recent stuff I've been into the horn section of that Juno-G a lot lately. Actually been itching to pull the trumpet out again. That'll have to wait for this sinus infection to go away so I can breath again..
But I sure like working with horns. So yeah, hang out here more... and I know you were half serious about the horn player comment, since you are a synthophone plyer now.. Title: Re: Extended track Post by: Mick Emery on January 26, 2008, 08:16:59 PM Quote I know you were half serious about the horn player comment, since you are a synthophone plyer now.. I thought about that, after I posted. I didn't know whether to wait for a comment before I apologized or not?! Some of the synthophone players in our forum work in bands that REFUSE to call it a synthophone!! (see "synthophonophobic" in the Synthophonopedia!!) I LOVE working with horns!! Break out your trumpet when you can. Another option is the Morrison Digital Trumpet, or EWI, (evi mode) or EVI...we could have a 16 piece horn section!! Quote That'll have to wait for this sinus infection to go away so I can breath again.. My God!!! How long have you not been breathing???? ROTFLMAO!! Mick |
