Title: New (old) Thomekk-Track (chamber classical)
Post by: thomekk on May 06, 2007, 01:15:35 AM
Hi,

this is one of my 1st posts here.
I'm ashamed that I did not have to post anything for a time::

This track is dated, but I did some arrangements on it recently.
Probably u can hear some Mike Oldfiled-Influenca  ;D

What do you think?

(and it's not really mastered considering the high frequencies, yeah)

A couple of comments of me
- I felt the intro a bit long
- There are a couple of good ideas & variations in there but I think it would be even better if there was some theme that kept this ideas together. There is that litle guitar hook...
- The mix isn't realy balanced, allmost the whole song has more load on the right side.

Interesting listen, hope you finish this

Kara

PS : On a second listen, forget the comment about the to long intro, it isn't...

Hi Thomekk
apart from Mike Oldfield, it has some spanish flavour here and there, but all in all it's a very original tune.
The classical style makes it very enjoyable, I like it.
I agree with Kara on the mix, but apart from that the sounds are very bright.
Have you ever thought to add some woodwinds melody ?

I look forward to the finished version

Cheers

OK, I like the song to the 2.23 point.  :)
Here's Mike Olfied, but also others ambients.
IMO, there's many themes to make 2 or 3 pieces  ;)

"I look forward to the finished version"
+1

Daniel

 ;D Hey thanks guys:
For the listening and for the comments!
Yeah, the mix is not balanced well, I agree.
@Kara:
Hmm, yes this all should/could hang more together with a theme returning and varyiing,
but I was not able to do so :P
To be honest I'm not sure how long this all should be,
possibly this will be this sort of composition to work on over years - and then in the end a chamber symphony is finished ::)
@Laguna:
Adding more melodies would be a pleasure, if I had a clue how to go on further ;D
I'm glad you liked it though!
@Daniel:
There could be moe pieces out of it, but I dunnow, thanks for liking it till the Mike Oldfield point ;)

cheers to all of you, mates!

There is a lot going on in this piece, but it all tied together nicely. Great guitar sound, what equipment did you use for that? My fave part is when the violin? came in, sounded wonderful with the guitar. This track is really inspiring and original, i loved it although i have to say i'm not a big Mike Oldfield fan. Yes the mix could do with some work, but it never spoiled my enjoyment. More like this please, great stuff.  :)

Hi blipp,

 ;D Thanks!! It makes me happy that this piece did entertain you well!!
I recently heard some cite from some hollywood-director (Billy Wilder), think it went like that (altered for music): "The 2 rules: Try not to bore yourself when composing and try not to bore the listener" Glad, this worked out!!

The violin is a cello-sf. For the guitar I used the freeamp-vst , which is imho really great considering the variety of tones you get out of it, the guitar was just a chinese-built fender copy (less money, same quality ;), plus reverb (I think fruity reverb..)

 :)
