Title: entweder and mor-oder
Post by: sobotonoj on July 06, 2007, 09:58:54 PM
these are two of my brand new VST plugins, one of them already released in this site, the next one coming out soon.
so what do they do ?
i wanted to get nice and crazy disorganizing (?) of rhythm pattern. i wanted the user to get a fine result quickly too without having trouble with the configuration. that is to say i needed something half automatic and simple.
so in the case of entweder you have the possibility to alter your rhythm audio patterns (no need for midi). short delays get modulated from different sources simultanously so that the sound gets crazy at times and then comes back to normality.
mor-oder can be controlled over midi note messages so that itīs much more accurate and weird. furthermore i added a ring mod which gives more color to the whole.
in both cases you can go thru a modulated filter.
enjoy !
by the way youīll also get soon an update of entweder too, but the current one is okay.

i forgot to say you can listen to demos of these plugins right here in this site !!!

concerning mor-oder, i would like to draw your attention on two important things :

WARNING : you may encounter sudden and high changes in volume which are due to the functioning of the plugin. this is no bug. for this, use the limiter.   (you can also use any other limiter in addition to it)

it is based on short, modulated delays that are partly automated. it will only work with midi patterns because it needs note on/off messages.

I tried entweder on my Sonar/VST plugin. It worked fine. I find that it can turn a humdrum drum sequence into less usual expressions. Cool!  :DThanks sobotonoj.

well the update will be better !.. not to mention mor-oder which is much more powerful. by the way a bug with mor-oder in sonar was reported to me. hopefully the minor change will solve the problem. if you want to test it yourself before the others (!), contact me !
and thank you !

A new version of entweder has been uploaded and mor-oder is now available.

FYI: Entweder has been downloaded 112 times so far.

Keep up the good work !

i am sooooooooooooo glad ! i would like to thank all my testers, friends and all the people here in this site !  read the userīs guide carefully this time, because changes in volume are expected (use the TLs 2095-Limiting Amplifier for example. or the one at kjaerhus), and you also need midi note messages to control it. enjoy !

i am already working on what will be the synthesis of entweder and moroder, combining their properties : audio controlled modules from entweder -  simple but not very efficient, and midi controlled enveloppes from mor-oder. and this by keeping just one LFO. it will be called mistorder. after that iīll take a rest !

hi !
i have the feeling some people donīt really understand how mor-oder works. here more details :
1) you have to play any drum loop, rhythm sample or whatever on a pattern
2) add a midi channel with midi notes on it. these notes will activate mor-oder.
3) launch mor-oder as an insert effect for your sample, and route the midi channel to it
the routing in cubase, sonar, FLstudio etc is not exactly the same. tell me if you have difficulties with it !

The following picture should help explaining how to use the plugin (click on th eimahe to enlarge if needed):

thanks ! as you can see, here with FLstudio running, you have an audio channel and a midi channel. letīs focus on this one. i add some notes anywhere i want in the channel. while these notes are played, the plugin is activated - not in between. to do so, you have to route the midi messages coming from this channel to mor-oder. as you can see, i entered 1 as "port number" for my plugin, same as for the midi channel, in order to connect them.

hi,
i managed to build a much more effective limiter that doesnīt lower the volume as much as with mor-oder. so mor-oder will get an update soon - no further changes to come - and naturally the next plugin will benefit from it.

I just found out that these plug-ins create interesting effects on vocal tracts as well. Did anybody try it on instruments other than drums?
