Title: The CafePress Confessions
Post by: elwoodblues91 on July 04, 2014, 03:46:57 AM
I may have a problem...a serious obsessive-compulsive problem,that is the Star Trek Syndrome! (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-alien009.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)
As it is now,I have a love/hate relationship with CafePress.com.It began with me abhorring the company,as the very first piece of merchandise I had ordered, was a 3' X 5' area rug, which had the Starfleet Command insignia on it.The logo itself was well done(in terms of the design alone)...but the problem is,the rug(prior to the printing process),is white...with a very poor quality fabric.Even worse, was that only the top surface of the carpet fibers were painted(with a cheap paint),whereby if you run your finger across the surface, you can see the white of the rug underneath.
The customer service is good though,as I illustrated my issues with the rug and they instructed me to just discard the rug and that they would refund my money(I find it disturbing though, that a piece of merchandise was done so cheaply, that the company can afford to tell the customer to trash it,rather than return it). :-\
This process is the same for all of CafePress's rugs and blankets and I've read quite a number of complaints regarding their t-shirts as well.

However though, the coffee mugs...on the other hand....along with my mouse pad, were beautifully done! The coloring and glazing process of the ceramics are immaculate and my mouse pad is machine washable.
I find it particularly frustrating, that CafePress has such an enormous array of products...everything from Star Trek shower curtains to jewelry & such(much, much more than what the official Star Trek Shop has to offer)...but tragically,CafePress's bedding and clothing,is something to avoid at all costs!

Go with the good and avoid the bad, and, tell other folks about your findings.
All a part of being a responsible consumer - nice going! :-
