Title: The House That Jack Built
Post by: elwoodblues91 on February 26, 2015, 09:21:34 PM
This is a tune my buddy Rob,wrote about 25 or so years ago and all that is left from the original reel to reel recording,is a copy of it...on cassette(& a very weathered one at that). ::) :P
I cleaned up the recording as best as I was able(using Audacity)...but unfortunately, the recording was too smeared by dirt & grime and I was unable to restore it completely.
So....from that,I was able to extrapolate a basic idea of what the original composition was like and I made my own rendition of it(& I added my own composition and vocals,in the process.)

This is a rough draft,& this will be re-conditioned and polished, when Rob gets his new computer & DAW up and running..in due time(that is,I need to tutor him first,as he is brand new to computer recording.)

The original song was about 8 minutes(I chopped it down to 1:50),as just a sampler, for comparison.

That's an excellent re-imaging (for want of a better word). The original had really suffered hadn't it?

Thanks for the comment! :) Out of all his old tunes, this is the only one that survived the excesses of time. :(

Wham!

Version two takes it, production-wise of course, but also artistically. :-*

Hi!

This is a nice hommage to the old song you've done there!
I like the idea of keeping the old tunes running and go through the ages.

Do you have the lyrics cause I didn't get all the words?

Nono. :-)

Here's the lyrics;

Woah-this is the house that jack built, you better...treat it gently..ooh
You hammer too hard...damnit!I hammer soft...yeah!
You hammer too loudly...you always,bend the nails...yeah!
I hammer softly...they always,go in straight!

Because I'm waving to the people...yes I'm waving to the people
Yes I'm waving to the people,on the shore...they don't wave back.

Woah, this is the house that Jack built...it's...not for sale
Woah...Jack don't seel no Buicks...or..pays the rent
Yeah, you hammer too loudly...you wake up,all the cats & mice
Cause,I hammer softly....you better...hammer...
Ooh,wave to all the people...yes I wave to all the people
Yes I wave to all the people,on the shore...
Yes I wave to all the people, yes I wave to all the people...
Cause I wave to all the people,on the shore...they don't wave back

Wave.....to the people....on the shore......

Here's the house that Jack built(in one day),here's the house that Jack built(in one day)...
