Title: A Sad Country Song
Post by: MarioD on January 15, 2021, 05:19:28 PM
This way out of my comfort zone.
Now you know why I do instrumentals!

A  Sad Country Song

intro

This is a sad, sad country song
About things, that can go wrong
It's not about mama, who died on the train
Or the prison, where my daddy was slain
It's not about beer, or being a drunk
It's worst then that, it's about, my pickup truck

V1

I bought me, a self driving pickup truck
And at first, it brought me luck
With it  driving  me around, it was real neat
With me and my girl, in the back seat

V2

Then one day, I said play me some Willie
It said not today, you old hillbilly
Today, I'm gonna make you sophisticated
By playing classical music, the kind you hated

Chorus

We fought all day long, over that damn song
And some would say, that was wrong
And I know, that this sounds silly
But damn it, I wanted Willie

V3
The truck said our gas, was really low
So we stopped, at Filler Up Joes
When I went in, the store to pay
My self driving truck, drove away

Chorus

We fought all day long, over that damn song
And some would say, that was wrong
I never saw, that truck again
And now that I think about it, my girl friend

She was in the back seat!

I'm not a huge country music fan(especially of today's pop-country)....but your song reminds me of the country music I was exposed to in my youth. This is reminiscent of the music I enjoyed in the "Every Which Way But Loose" and "Every Which Way You Can" films....great stuff! 8) Is this your use of BIAB? Whatever it is,it's a notable production all around. The vocals may be out of your comfort zone, but I really enjoyed the 2 part vocal harmonies in the chorus sections of this tune. :-
Your song actually lit a fire under me to get back in the action with my own music....but I wanted to remove myself from all of the headaches of desktop PC production and go back to hardware, for a bit.At this time,I sold my former hardware & midi controller keyboards and I'm awaiting a new keyboard I have placed a preorder on....so I will be out of commission until the latter part of Febuary/beginning of March.

Thanx so much Thom.

Yes all of the backing tracks are called RealTracks from Band-in-a-Box.  I rarely use RealTracks as I use MIDI mostly so this also was out of my comfort zone.

Thanx for the harmony comments.

I hope you get back to making music as soon as you can.
