Title: Feb 14th jam
Post by: MarioD on February 17, 2021, 04:22:52 PM
BobH was over last Sunday and came up with this chord progression.  We like it so we plugged in our acoustics and recorded it. We didn't use a click track so the tempo does wander a little, thus adding any computer generated tracks was out of the question. Note I couldn't generate and accurate tempo track.

BobH is playing the rhythm and I am playing the lead.  This recording was the first take and we liked it so we kept it, warts and all.  Later I added the percussion tracks and a bass track, again all first takes.

I hope you like it for what it is, a simple jam.

Doesn't need anything else. It's just fine as it is O0
It has that immediacy that you can only get by just playing.

I agree, it was just fine the way it is.

I read about musicians making hundreds for near identical tracks for a song, and then dumping the mess in the lap of a mixing engineer to "create" the perfect song and I just shudder. Music needs an immediacy for it to be music.

bvdp I completely agree. I like to use first takes as that is where the all of the emotion is located. So called musicians whom need a large number of tracks to make the perfect one track are IMHO polishing a song to dullness.

Thanx for taking the time to listen and comment on this jam.

Yeah. As author of a almost-popular (I keep waiting with eager anticipation) templating accompaniment piece of software I hesitation to call out the quest for perfection. But, I just say it's for practice ... even though I've done life performances and a pretty nice CD with MMA :) But, like they way, there ain't nothing like the real thing!
