OK 3rd attempt at posting, see if it works this time lol

I've tried my hand at a slower, more melancholy version of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here", but unfortunately I have the singing ability of a strangled moose with laryngitis gargling battery acid, as youll see from the 1st attached file.  Grin

I'm attaching a second file with no vocals, if any nice person would like to have a go at the vocals, I'm looking for a touch of sadness, if that makes any sense.

This will be my 1st ever collaboration, so I'm excited to see the results  Afro

Top notch backing tracks! A really nice take on this classic song Cool

I'd like to have a go at the vocal, and it would be cool if several of the crew went for it, so we could potentially have multiple renditions. Tom (elwoodblues1969) has the pipes to really ace this puppy...

MP3 creates timing issues in collaborations - could I impose on you to post the backing tracks as an Ogg Vorbis file?

This would be a cool fusion of K-M artists Cool.....I wasn't aware of timing issues with MP3's but my issue with this format,is that an MP3 to begin with,is a slaughtered mess of audio fidelity....so in it's continuance of being "dragged through the mud" even further, just makes me cringe. Tongue

Aside from that,it's always better to collaborate via e-mail,for the purpose of sending & working with individual tracks....in the event that further mixing & polishing of the material is necessary(preferably in WAV file, compressed in Monkey's Audio and sent via YouSendIt.com.

I apologize if I'm throwing too much at you in a cluster(don't know your level of experience with this stuff,if any).
I'll be happy to walk you through it all if you want and believe me,it's well worth the extra time & effort.

My email address is on my member page,so drop me a line and we'll talk it out,if you're interested.

I've never heard of yousendit, but Ill upload an OGG file, and seperate tracks in wav to my Mediafire acct, then post the link.  Probably won't be till sunday though, my girlfriend comes over for the weekend so I don't get much chance for music then.  I have a UK stoneage internet connection, 15Kb/sec upload so it will take a long time lol

Be great to see what you guys do with it.  I can't sing for sh*t, as you heard hehe.

I might dig out my old strat copy and redo the guitar, it doesnt sound right, its my Eggle Berlin Plus... great guitar, but double humbuckers just aint right methinks.

Hey .....it may be a long shot, but ..... where abouts are you in Geordieland.  I'm in sunny South Shields. If you were close enough for us to meet up you could give me files on a USB memory stick and I can post them for you .....  Grin

O.o thats a good idea, thanks for the offer!!  I'm just up in Blyth.  I'm off work for health reasons atm so I'm free pretty much all the time except weekends when my gf is round.  I'll PM you my phone number.  Maybe bring my semi around and have a little bit of a jam too?

I agree that the best possible audio quality is essential for successful on-line collaboration. FLAC and MonkeesAudio lossless codecs are an excellent choice, but when file size is important, Ogg Vorbis is an excellent alternative. A/B listening tests show that audio files compressed with Ogg Vorbis level 6 are indistinguishable from the original wave file for all but the most discerning listeners.

In this case, with internet speed being an issue, an Ogg Vorbis version (compressed from the original wave file mix, not from the MP3) of the instrumental mix will provide accurate timing and pitch. Each of us can load that into our DAW and record/produce a vocal track.
Then, we can post our dry vocal track - impablomations can download, EQ, and add reverb, and mix it with his instrumental tracks. Simply posting the vocal tracks here as high-definition Ogg Vorbis files (level 6 or better) would provide acceptable fidelity, while making his downloads more manageable.

Am I making any sense, yet? Cheesy

I like that guitar sound - it works! David Gilmour used a strat for that recording, but it had those Lace Sensor pickups.
Your sound is actually superior, at least to my ear...  Afro
By the way, I'm a big supporter of buying your instruments from fellow countrymen. My electric bass is built by hand by Godin in Canada, as is my Seagull acoustic guitar. Both of my electric guitars are built just down the coast in Fullerton California by G&L. They cost a little more than machine-made instruments built in 3rd world countries, but supporting local luthiers and retailers makes a lot of sense -
and you get a better guitar... wOO
