I think this qualifies for 'ambient'. I hope you will agree.
It is another tune that has been on 'slow cook' for about 2 years.

Sleepy Hollow is a real place, but it's proper name is The Silent Pool, and it's in Surrey, England. On the A25 just below Newlands Corner to be precise Smiley

Listening as I type......this is yet another of your sumptuous melodies that has me reaching for the whistle. If it weren't such an anti-social instrument I would be skirling away right now!
As it is, I shall have to hold off until tomorrow....then give it some 'welly' when everyones out of the house.
 Cool
Lovely stuff, Will.  You really have a way with composition, young man.

Folderol,

A very nice mood this piece evokes and I love the soloing synth sounds, but about 2/3's into the song, the structure in the solo and the backround solo layer needs to be tightened up and arranged a bit differently I think.

If memory serves, you are using just the Alesis Fusion as your sole recording tool?

If so,I think you could do some really amazing & flawless compostions with a keyboard like the Kurzweil K2661...seriously!

I plan on getting one myself and I must profess to you, that if you love your Fusion, you will love the K2661 a hundred fold!!

It truly is the most amazing 61 key workstation out there for the price & even though it's roughly twice the price of your Fusion-the quality is far beyond than just
double-it's quadruple the quality!

If you do want to upgrade, save your money and do the research on this board-I promise you,you will be mesmerized by this keyboard.

Just some food for thought.

Cheers,

Thom

No, it is done entirely with ZynAddSubFX as the instrument source, my SY35 acting as a dumb keyboard and Rosegarden effectively as a multitrack realtime recorder, and later, editor.

The part I think you are referring to has had quite a few attempts to get right  Undecided I know it still tends to sound a tad confused (3:12, 3:23), and will probably have another stab at it sometime.

@ kara

You are  quite right Smiley

You know I sometimes think I've only just scratched the surface with Zyn. I've still done very little with the Pad synth section.

I also agree that the penny whistle is not antisocial, but know others are less erm... keen.

When I was a kid I was only allowed to do my piano practice when the house was virtually empty Sad

Anyway, I'm very glad you all like this.

Onwards and Upwards as they say Grin

Hi Folderol

Excellent sounds, these are among the best sounds I heard here in the auditorium.
The composition is very nice, soft melodies, great atmposphere.
Well done !

Beautiful track, great sounds. The low choir humming sound is great, very subtle but still a significant element to the whole feel. This song reminds me a bit of Vangelis.

Thanks a lot Marc.

Hey, I dunno about the Vangelis comparison. I have an old house with narrow doors, so have to keep my head size down Grin

<edit> Oops, I forgot to say thanks to L. R. Roll Eyes

Lush, Will, very lush!

(and I'm not talking about your drinking habits Roll Eyes)

Restful, pensive, evocative....all the good words.

By contrast, sometimes I worry about my "thrash and holler" inclinations, but then, we all need something to chuckle at, don't we?

Oren.

Thanks Oren.

My drinking habbits are about to erm.. deteriorate. The boss gave me a large bottle of Baileys (as well as a sizable cristmas bonus this year) Smiley

Hi folderol,

I agree with the previous posts as this is one beautiful lush professional sounding performance.   Absolutely fantastic.

If I had heard this in a record/cd store I would have guessed Vangelis.
