I guess this is where I would post about this- I would love to make a small, simple midi controller. Preferably just a set of knobs/ faders, maybe mute functions? Maybe.. I don't want to get too complicated.

Anyhow, I've googled around a bit and found similar projects that are a bit much, I'm not interested in making a midi 'mixer'- just a few physical controls for synthesizer parameters.

So, any DIY gurus on the forum?

Many thanks,
-Servetus

(Oh, well, this looks nice.. like what I'd like, still, I'd like to build one - http://www.encoreelectronics.com/cont_knob1.html)

Also try http://arduino.cc/

This is an incredibly inexpensive kit. It is completely open source and the programming environment is available for Windows, Mac OS & Linux.

There is only 1 MIDI example given, but it is so easy to use that it should be easy for you to add their own controls, provided you know the MIDI commands (and that information is easily obtainable).

I fully intend to use the for making control surfaces etc... whenever i can find the time!

Awesome links, both of you, thanks a lot. Hopefully I can rustle up some cash soon and give it a go.

I love this forum.  Afro
