Another twist of my mind ....
Why square circles ? The melody of this song turns around in circles, or perhaps not completly  Grin

I like the way things weave in and out here. A very compelling piece and yet another one which is terrific to improvise along to. I been sitting with the guitar just picking around the melodies. Great stuff!

Kara,

This is a surprisingly dark song for someone who prefers more upbeat & lighter stuff...which is especially puzzling since you had just recently returned from your vacation...what's up with that!? Huh Grin

Seriously though,it is a brilliantly concieved song and I did enjoy it very much, but at the same time,it fits right in with my mood,as I've been depressed over thinking about the oppurtunity I missed to get a Nord Lead 2X and this song encapsulates that feeling well. Cry
You've got some very interesting stuff up in that "attic" you call a brain-wonderful job Sir! Cool

@Wyatt : Thanks bro, I has evolved since you heard the preview of this one  Wink

@Thom : Post-holliday syndrom ?  Shocked Grin No, not at all, I stumbled accidentially over this melody and decided to make a song out of it, using some simple harmonisation technique.
Contrary to a lot of 'young' electronic musicians I'm never inspired by a sound of a synth, for me it has to start with a melody or a rythm and chord progression.
I've bought my Nord modular G2X used from this guy : http://www.music-bien-etre.com/
He bought it new, made a CD with it using the best presets he found and then sold it, because he wanted new sounds for his next album  Shocked

@James : I could perhaps make a live-set out of it for september  Tongue

I actually had another question about the song. The song has been written on my small ACER pda, using the internal software oscillators of the software (no samples where used), actually just like my latest contest entry 'Le Caire en feu'. When I send the preview to Moon, he stated that the song was good but the sound realy wasn't up to pare ?

So the question to all : How good are these sounds ? Could these have been made with good hardware synth's or quality Vsti's ?

Thanks for objective answers.

As Thom says this is a very dark almost sinister tune. Very impressive.

As for sound quality, I'm not sure that a tune like this actually wants the cleanest possible sounds (although on a first listening i can't detect anything sub-standard).

Interesting composition...

I can see why Moon might suggest higher quality instrumentation, because the song has a definite "orchestral" quality about it, and could benefit from instruments with more depth and tonal complexity.

Nicely done, in any event  Afro

Kara, I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of music.  I thought the production was outstanding.  Super job on this!

Any sound that enhances the performance/music is the right sound to use.  I believe you’ve picked the right sounds for this piece.

Thanks for the comments guys  Cool
At a certain point Moon suggested to add some strings to it to make it fuller.
I went against that as I wanted to focus the listener on the 2 melodies that are running.

Yes, I very much like your arrangement here..it creates a focus on the mysterious.

Very strong composition.. the more I listen to this one the better I like it.

Less is more.

Cool

Hi there
I understand the point of the 2 melodies and being well played in a very expressive way it adds an unusual exotic feel to this track.
it sounds exotic but I guess it's the melody itself rather than the use of weird scales
Enjoyable

Cheers
