Well...after having read through a rash of horror stories over the LCD display issues of the Juno G and having viewed 3 YouTube videos that have confirmed these said accounts,I have scratched the Juno G off of my list unreservedly.
The aforementioned as prompted me to reconsider the Fantom G-thereby doubling my research efforts & here's what I've discovered....

It's been two years since the release of the Fantom G and all of the OS bugs have been ironed out,the price has dropped $300 and the accumulation of the audio demos,videos,brochures & PDF's are an impressive in their numbers and are very helpful & revealing....in fact,they're staggeringly good! Shocked Cheesy
In terms of sounds,there are 1,664 patches-some of which,are selections from each & every category from the old SRX library
There's also 256 GM sounds & 64 rhythm patches also.
Although there are many sounds on par with the previous Fantom X series(which are not all that impressive)-there seems to be however,just as many upgraded sounds included with the Fantom G as well,so ultimately,the Fantom G does not really disappoint in this area.
Upon further investigation of the lavishly priced ARX cards...well..the ARX sound sets are"Hyper-sampled",just as they are with Propellerhead's refills,in that the instruments are recorded with multiple mics in various places,so the sounds can be altered to impeccably emulate all of the natural inflections of an acoustic instrument.
These ARX expansion cards also have effects,that operate independently from the rest of the workstation...WOAH!
All this being said,I have gained some insight as to why the ARX cards are priced so high-but it still does not entirely justify a price tag of $449......on the other hand though,the option for expansion to attain additional sounds is always a good thing,provided that Roland expands their ARX library beyond their existing choices,which are brass,drums & electric pianos.
Now....onto my favorite feature of this beast-located in the "Studio Mode" of this beast,which is the effects;

16 insert effects,as well as additional chorus & reverb effects and of course-to top it all off,mastering effects as well!!

Here's some links to wet your appetite;

All in all,I think the Fantom G is actually a wonderful alternative to the Korg Oasys in terms of price and clearly,some of the features of the Fantom G blow the Korg Oasys out of the water!
For me personally,the Fantom G is also a fantastic alternative to a computer workstation,as it has all of the functionality of a PC workstation & also a comparably sized LCD screen and all without the worry of compatibility & memory issues-YAHOO!!!
Oh yeah.....this workstation will be mine,one fine day in the near future...

Thanks for this review Thom.
Although it is a difficult time for music hardware constructors, due to the crisis and less expensive software solutions, it is good to see that the big boys like Korg,Roland & Yamaha still invest in there products and deliver good hardware.

For anyone who is interested in the Fantom G,the Roland Clan forum has many useful links & one of my favorites is this Musikmesse demo;
