Who? Me?

WWW
« on: June 02, 2010, 06:09:59 PM »

I thought you might like to see a picture of my new {cough} synth Wink

... and then there's the pile of effects boxes that have to go with it Tongue

It sounds luuurvely. All I have to do now is learn how to play the damn thing Cry

Originally I intended to go to the Digital Village in Romford to get this, but something went wrong with the directions and I ended up going the full length of Romford High road very many times. In the end I gave up and went home. Dartford crossing and lots of scary driving for nothing.

I then went into Chatham town centre, and because of all the roadworks got directed along an unfamiliar route - straight past a music shop I'd never seen before. Parked and walked back, and to my astonishment the entire upper floor is nothing but guitars, ukes & banjos.

Shop staff were great and let me mess about with as many as I wanted - just left me to it. Picked up this one and sort of liked the feel right away. Asked to hear it amped up - no problem at all, and it just got better and better.

Asked the price and nearly fell off the seat!" It's second hand so only 99 pounds sir". and they actually apologised for the couple of blemishes in the finish  Shocked

Yours has the maple neck, which could be an advantage .... but mine was only £15 at a car-boot sale  Roll Eyes

I had to do a lot of work to get it playable.  New nut, fret dress, truss-rod adjustment and intonation set-up ... but that only cost a couple of pounds and two days work.

Lovely budget range guitars.
Sweet tone and very easy action.

If you can't play this ... then you won't be able to play anything.  Lips Sealed

I look forward to hearing it.

@Rony
I'm working on it Smiley
@James
As it stands, it sounds great, so I'm not inclined to do anything more than tuning and basic cleaning until I know exactly what I'm doing Roll Eyes

A little bowl, or saucer, containing some surgical spirit and just sit with your finger-tips soaking in it for 10 minutes each night. (but don't get too close to the fire Shocked )
That'll do the trick.  It hardens up the skin and helps to develop those 'callouses' which are much admired.  Lips Sealed
It's what they use for bed-sores, you know.  Roll Eyes

Lovely array of effects, Picker!

That telecaster style of guitar was my back-up instrument when performing live. The fancy-shmancy guitars got most of the action, but when things got dicey, the telecaster was always there to finish up the evening. Solid, dependable, uncomplicated.

Sweet little axe!

OK, here we go for a quick trail of my new guitar. Three short snatches that show the instrument in a good light, but make my woefull lack of practice quite obvious Sad

P.S.
In the last part, it's not the guitar out of tune, it's me not able to hold down bar chords properly Sad

What a great start, young'un.  Kiss

How are you recording?
Did you get a mixer?
Is this d/i or are you recording the output of an amp?

Oh, yeah!

A Canadian guitarist, Phil X, demonstrates two Telecasters for us. His selections are American made, but those Squier models are (in my opinion) able to perform just as well.

This hoser is not a Telecaster player, nor a country guitarist, so we get to see/hear the tones an inexperienced player can get from the instrument.

Okay, I admit I really don't know much about guitars ... but ...

is the sound a result of the pickups, amp, player ... or 'cause it's a vintage guitar?

Probably a bit of all 4 and some wishful thinking thrown in? I see guitars on Antiques Road Show for zillions of dollars and scratch my head.

I can only hope that long after I'm dead one of my distant heirs can flog some of my saxophones for big dollars Smiley
