"Nice" feels rather extravagant, but the software does drive that old pentium4 chip and the generic audio card very well. wOO
(it performs even better with my Athlon dual-core and an M-Audio soundcard)

Here's "Tracking Down the Soul Machine" - recorded, mixed, and mastered in Dynebolic without an audiophile soundcard installed.

Rendered to Ogg Vorbis quality6 directly from 32bit/44.1KHz wave file, no dithering applied.

Cool song and a good example how to make music with free tools.

Now I'm quoting myself, strange thing the internet...
having said that, I had the impression that your voice didn't sound quite as I know it from other songs ?
Was this a choice or because of the software used ?

The "soul machine" concept is about that undefinable (je ne sais quoi... Wink) quality of strength and character that is evident in the best of our efforts. The combination of chorus and distortion in the vocal was an effort to sound like a "technological spirit" - a reflection of a computer musician's search for the best in songwriting, digital audio, and hardware.

Mission accomplished !

I has a look at the possibility of making your own puredyne USB key
Boy, this looks really complicated....

I had an extra couple of hours today, so had a go at loading Puredyne 32-bit onto a USB flash memory card. It is now running my Asus 701 eeepc from the SD card slot. All applications functional ( okay, a little slow... Grin), and many of the programs are challenging to operate because of the small screen size.
But it works!

Fun!
...and here is the method that worked, from the Puredyne site...

"Get unetbootin for Linux from http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ and a Puredyne iso file from http://puredyne.org/download.html . On some distro's you may need to give unetbootin permission to run as a program.

Use a partitioning tool to create two ext2 partitions on your keypen.

The first should be 1.5 GB in size to hold Puredyne & should be bootable.

The second can use the remaining space on the drive and should be given the label live-rw (lower case, as typed). Puredyne will detect this and use it to store any changes you make.

Plug in the keypen & then use either mount or dmesg at a terminal to get the name of the first partiton on the keypen.

Start unetbootin. Choose the 'Diskimage' option & click the box with three dots to get the file browser & choose the Puredyne iso. Check to make sure that the correct drive (the first on your keypen) is chosen. Click OK & wait for the message that will tell the process is completed.

The first boot will be slower than subsequent boots."
