...just looking for clues...

« on: September 15, 2011, 06:37:23 PM »

I consider my brother-in-law Harvey to be an audio professional, because although he doesn't work with music production, he's a specialist in vibration - its measurement, assessment, and control. Essentially he works with elements of frequency and amplitude, in industrial and scientific applications.

So we sat down one evening after supper to do some righteous beat-slicing. We restricted our sound-source to five samples/loops courtesy of Equinox Sound - http://www.kara-moon.com/forum/index.php?board=14.0 - Then sliced, diced, pitch adjusted, compressed, equalized, assembled, effected, and mixed down from ten stereo tracks. All processing done in Linux: Ardour - http://ardour.org/ - and Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ - encoded to LAME VBR - http://lame.sourceforge.net/

Three minutes long, and suitable (we hope Cheesy) as a soundtrack for one of Harvey's video productions - here it is, attached. Download, and have a listen...

Impressive...
Rather better than my attempt (many years ago) to produce 'Three Blind Mice' by cutting and splicing 1/4in tape Grin

If you have a poem, I have a tune, and we exchange these, we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.

Thank you Mario! Young Harvey takes to this sample and loop thing like a duck to water...

Thom,
I was looking forward to your impression, as we know you can be brutally honest (which I like Smiley).

Azell,
Que pouvons-nous dire ... Merci de votre écoute!
