After much debate on what would be my secondary computer for general internet surfing and other miscellaneous usage...I finally settled on a Acer Aspire from Walmart.
Though I had fancied Cyberpower PC's for a long while,I can no longer deal with their overblown towers and extremely noisy fans. While it is ideal to go for the most powerful and expansive PC possible,to be prepared for whatever tasks lie ahead...well...at this point,I'd rather invest moderately or minimally and just replace a PC every few years(particularly with secondary computers like this one).
Since a small price and size were paramount, the Acer was ideal,as it's 1/4 the size of my old Cyberpower gaming PC and yet, pretty well equipped...with 2.41Ghz,quad core processor,500GB HD and 4GB of RAM(upgradable to 8GB).
Also..a fair amount of connectivity, with 2 USB ports,a card reader and audio inputs in the front, with more such ports in the rear...which includes an HDMI port(a major selling point for me).
Only $249...yet adequate enough to run a DAW modestly,if I decide to upgrade the RAM in the future.

As for my music PC situation...I had recently sold off a bunch of my gear to GuitarCenter to pay off my other PC and to rid myself the burden of my M-Audio and Novation midi controllers(brands that have really gone downhill in recent years).
The only keyboard that remains,is my Behringer UMX-610...but since I've lost the power cord,my music creation abilities have been rendered mute.
It seems though, that Alesis is making a comeback in a big way...so much so,that I felt confident enough to place a pre-order for what seems to be a very exquisite piece of gear, that was showcased at Namm earlier this year....

Thom according to this ad your keyboard should run off of an USB port.  I would assume that if it is like mine USB peripherals that should a USB port from either your computer or a powered USB hub.  Note that all hubs are not the same and some will not power peripherals.

Here is your power adapter for $7:

I hope this helps you get back to making music!

Thanks Mario...but last night,I noticed that my keyboard is also battery powered and using this option did the trick. At this point,it's just not worth spending any money on it,by buying a power supply...as my new midi controller should be arriving next week. Cool
