Hi.  Eddie did this song on the PG forum.  I had also been working on it.  I sent it to Eddie and he fixed up my harmonies.  Seems his system works better with the TCHelicon than mine does. Huh

Anyway, Click Here and give it a listen.

Great dancing number  Cool
Good production and convincing singing.
Suffers a litle bit in the mid range of the spectrum, but nothing that a bit of EQ'ing can't solve

Hi Russel
nice 60's feel, and good in-style melodies and vocals.
The guitar solo has the right amount of fuzz  Cool
I enjoyed it

Cheers

Hmmmmm ... It's a 70's song, actually.  It's by Elvin Bishop.  I think the year was 1976.  Not real sure.  Might be 1977, come to think of it.  But thanks for the nice comment.

I've noticed that there's something wrong with the song.  Sounds to me like the vox is coming out of the left side, mainly.  In checking I've discovered I uploaded the wrong file.  It's one I was working on previously.  I'll re-upload so you'll hear what I wanted you to hear.  I was in a hurry to get to work this morning when I uploaded it.

Ok.  I've re-uploaded it.  This is the final cut.  I noticed some sizzle in a couple of harmony parts but that's the unfortunate symptom of the TCHelicon.  Sometimes it tends to make funny scritching, scratching noises that I can't figure out.  Ah well.  It's not the real thing and I have to take all that into consideration.  Also it's computer processing tool and not hardware.  Further, it's free with BIAB and PTW so I guess I can't gripe.  I want one that really delivers?  Then I'll buy the $4400 version from TCElectronics.   Roll Eyes

Anyway, Click Here and see if you think it sounds better.  Thanks again.

Russ,

A nice improvement from the version you sent me.

Is that the SG you're playing?

Hi Oren.  Yes that's the SG.  I used the bridge pickup for this to get good bite into it.  Ran it through my VAmp2.  Did it in one take.  Shocked even me.  Shocked

Nice version.
Great job Russ. Nice work on the vocals. I like the guitar sound. A little more guts than I'm used to hearing from you! I'm liking it!
 Give us some more!

Well I think you've been hearing a lot of stuff lately that I've done in the past when I was a top 40 player.  I like dance music.  And, now that I've decided I like Country music, I've decided I'm a country rocker.  So you're bound to hear both sides of the street from me now.  Country today, rock 'n roll tomorrow or else a little of both on the same menu.

Top Forty player- means playing in a band that plays the top forty most popular songs. Most regular bands are 'top forty' bands becasue they play the current popular music.

Nice job, I sang this one for years, when I was in "Top Forty" bands,it was always popular. I used to do the album cut though with a second verse (followed by that bridge) it went:

"It used to be, when I'd see a lady I liked, I take out my book and write down her name.
But when the grass got a little greener on the other side, I'd take out my book and tear out that page."

Elvin Bishop was (and probably still is) a great player, I loved that touch he had. I first heard him as the second guitarist in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Mike Bloomfield was the lead guitarist. I saw them at the old Filmore Theater in San Francisco, summer of '67. The opening act was a new act from England called Cream. At the end, they all jammed, what can I say?

Hey Russ (& Muzic Trax too!)

Great job with the singing and guitar work.  Your voice reminds me of Neil Young who I used to listen to back in the Buffalo Springfield days -quite a long time ago.  I also like the harmony job you guys did on this.
Overall great piece, in my opinion, which may not mean much since I'm mostly a jazz and classical fan. Or perhaps I should say it means quite a bit because I'm outside of it.

Best,

Dan

PS When you make your wave or mp3, you might want to put your name(s) either in the filename and or in the (title, artist etc. meta data) or whatever it is called to help identify mp3 downloads as your work.
