A few months after I had bought my Zoom 8HD multi-tracker,I discovered this incredibly versatile & feature-packed wonder of a multi-tracker,which is the Tascam 2488mkII! Shocked
This recording monster has 24 tracks,3 band EQ per track,3 built in effects processors, insert effects routing,8 inputs, monitor outputs & an 80GB hard drive-just to name a few....all for a mere $629.00(USD)-a $130.00 more than what I paid for my 8-track!!
As for my studio,it's a tad too big and 99% of the time,I don't really have a need for more than 8 tracks, but this is the bargain of a lifetime,& should any of you need a piece of hardware such as this-JUMP ON IT WHILE YOU CAN!! wOO

Many years agoo I've started with a 4-track Tascam recorder, recording was done on a casette tape...

As I like to use hardware, I'm pleased to see that companies still believe in hardware solutions in this new world of never ending VSTi's,VSt's and other software.

Kara,

It is my belief, that the only reason that there is still a niche in the market for hardware recorders,is due to the fact that people still need a portable,stand-alone solution for recording on the fly-to lay down musical ideas & for live situations, but otherwise, computers have dominated the global market & it does worry me a bit at times. Undecided

True, but that's not the only reason. I know quite some musicians that refuse to work with a PC...
