There was a request for a drumkit option. Essentially, this is the same as the existing defaulttone setting ... but logically a bit more tenable. Rather than having this as a standalone command, I've wrapped up as a tweak. Logic is simply that it's not going to be used very much Smiley

Patch file is attached for the 2002c version of mma.

The table of kits has been expanded a bit from the wikipedia article listing the roland sets. I have added some from Yamaha and Casio.

Thanks.

FYI Of the 49 styles I converted from iRealPro, 14 used a non-Standard DrumKit. Mostly Standard2.

Just wondering if we should extend this a bit and permit the use of the drumkit table when setting a drum voice in a track. So, we should be able to:

  Drum  Voice Jazz

To avoid possible name conflicts I'm thinking we should append "kit" to these names. So, in a tweak it'd be:

  Tweak Drumkit=Jazz

But, in a voice line:

  Drum Voice JazzKit

Comment?

Let's see if I understand. These would be equivalent (if not identical):

  Drum Tone KickDrum1
  Drum Tone 36.0
  Drum Tone KickDrum1 StandardKit

Well, not identical, since:

  Tweaks DrumKit=Jazz
  Drum Tone KickDrum1
  Drum Tone KickDrum1 JazzKit

will refer to the KickDrum1 from the JazzKit (bank 32), while

  Drum Tone 36.0

Still refers to the Standard Kit (bank 0).

I like it! This also clarifies the choice for Tweaks to set the default drumkit.

For symmetry...

  Drum Tone 36.32
  Drum Tone KickDrum1.32
  Drum Tone 36.JazzKit
  Drum Tone KickDrum1.JazzKit

Nah. Your proposal is fine already!

It's

  Drum VOICE JazzKit

that is the same as:

  Tweaks Drumkit  Jazz

and

   Tweaks Drumkit  JazzKit

well ... almost the same since the VOICE command can be issued and takes effect anywhere in the file, the tweak just sets a default value to use so it's just used when the track is created.

Ah, I see. So while normal tracks have just a Voice (patch), Drum tracks can have a Voice (bank) and Tone (patch)?

Pretty much. In a drum track we call a "pitch" a "tone" and "Voices" are "drum kits". Hey ... it's MIDI not me Smiley
