Yep- yer right!
I changed the tempo a bit...it seemed to drag.
If you want it at 127 I'll do it there, no problem.

BTW Kara is a 'he'....far as I know.  No personal experience, but I know he's married to a lovely wife.  Smiley

Grin Yep kara is a 'he'  Grin

Rharv, can you upload the 2 files separated in ape of ogg?
That bass line had to be simple to fit the song, you can't go wild on a song like that.
Still, i can give you litle advice, if you don't mind.
I've noticed that in some spots your bass 'sings', meaning other strings resonate with what you are playing. It is very important that when you play bass you hear only the notes that you are playing, meaning that you have to be carefull to mute the other strings. I know you have a very good bass player in your group,  he could show you what I mean.
You won't hear it in the mix, but I just wanted to give a bit advice, i hope i didn't offend you.

Lips Sealed  Lips Sealed  Ooops, I'm sorry Kara  Lips Sealed  Lips Sealed
I'm gonna be sitting in a corner being very embarassed for a while now.

I attached a zipfile containing 2 BiaB-files, 2 Realdrumfiles, 2 midi's and a .seq-file . These are the files I used in the previous posting.

I can't wait to hear how this one turns out!!!!

Mike

Hmm, can't seem to compress the Realdrums and .seq files enough to fit.
Tried to compress the wav-files to ape, but the trialversion of total audioconverter I used only converts 2/3 of the track. Has anyone a suggestion on which program to use (or buy) to do this ?

I don't think this site does .ape files, and I also think they will be over the file size.  I've been posting the ape files to a seperate site.

Maybe Kara or Moon will have a solution to this (?)
Or we stay with mp3 for now..

I'll redo the bass part at the correct tempo.

I notice a lot of ringing from this bass too, Kara.  But I sometimes still hear it even with my hand damping all the strings!  If I hit a note and immediately lay my hand across the strings I still hear the ringing..I don't know if it's the 'neck-thru-the-body' that does it, or if the harmonics are that live, or what..
I'll practice more.  No offense taken here.  I hear it, just haven't figured out how to fix it yet.  Believe me, I know my bass playing is novice at best.

@Mike
No offense taken , i know that Kara sounds like a girls name in some countries  Grin
Now about the project...
If you want to do a collab project like this, you need a couple of rules, most of our forum members know those because we allready did a lot of collborations here.
Let me explain this :
- You need a basic layout of the song to work with, and this HAS to be the official version. Since I do the mixing, my latest posted mix will be the official version.
- If you work with other musicians, point them to this thread and let them join the forum here. At least they will be able to discuss here.
- I have a linux daw, so i can handle all audio formats (wav,mp3,flac,ape,...) but i can't handle seq files.
- So, if you have other musicians ask them to first download the latest version of the audio mix and let them syncronise the contributed track from the start of the mix.

I've started from the bass&drum track of Rharv and added a piano track to it. This propably will change in the future, I don't know a lot of country music and parts will dissappear when we add other instruments, but at least you have a roadmap now to work with Smiley

@Rharv : No need to redo the bass track

The official tempo of the song is now 128 BPM

All you have to do is ask  Grin
'flac' and 'ape' are allowed files now

Oookaaayyy,
Does this mean I have to redo all vocal parts again  Embarrassed (at least the one(s) you want to use ) or can the original tracks be speeded up?
Let me know which part(s) you want and I'll try to send them as soon as I can (time, time, time...)

Mike

btw I noticed that the drums where very soft in my reposted song, so for the record I reposted a newer version http://www.kara-moon.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1390.0;attach=1218

Either that or I have to do the bass over, etc.

Once a version gets posted we usually try to run with it, which is why I did your original version.  If you keep changing versions it gets discouraging for those that have already downloaded it and started working on it (even if they haven't uploaded a finished track there may well be others working on it).

So,  if possible what I'd like to hear next would be a scratch vocal over the version we are using, without all the other parts, just to keep track of where we are in the song.  I did that bass part using your mid file and just following the chord chart.  It would have been nice to have at least a scratch vocal to help keep place and know where we are in the song.  The second version you posted was much more complete, but by then I had a couple hours invested into downloading, recording, programming drums and uploading..
just sayin'

+1

Cool..we may need a sticky on this subject one day soon, because I have a feeling we are going to be heading in this collab direction more and more as time goes on.

Well put.

Took a while 'cause I had to clean up my C: drive (cluttered up so bad the last couple of days that I had only 800MB free !?! )

So,  if possible what I'd like to hear next would be a scratch vocal over the version we are using, without all the other parts, just to keep track of where we are in the song.

Is this about what you had in mind?

Exactly.  Thanks!

Now I know what we're working with for a structure.

BTW I replied to your questions on that disk space issue.
